post exposure prophylaxis - basically it's a treatment whereby if somebody has sex without a rubber and runs the risk of contracting hiv then a prescription of 4wks worth of anti-hiv drugs are given. but it must be started within 72 hours otherwise it is unlikely to help.
so it's imperative to know where to go to find these drugs (if you fit the criteria for them) because it is so important to start them straight away.
it is CRAZY that most guys don't know about these drugs because they can save lives!!!
It seems wrong if it isn't available in Leeds when Leeds is one of the UK's main cities. I'll bring it up in the next commitee meeting, it would perhaps be a good campaign for the LGBT to run this year.

Hi guys just wanted to add a little something to this.
PEP is available at A&E depts (Such as in the LGI) and GUM clinics (also there too) and, after looking into it, should anyone feel they have been exposed and want to get some then i advise printing out this letter to take with you to the A&E to make sure you don't come across any problems (as apparently there have been cases of this in the past) from the link below provided by the terrence higgins trust website or to ring them direct on 0845 12 21 200 for advise on where to get it should you be unable to attain it from the LGI for whatever reason. Thanx guys and stay safe :)
Mrs Doyle: I have cake!
Father Ted: No thanks, Mrs Doyle.
Mrs Doyle: Are you sure, Father? They've got cocaine in em!
Father Ted: WHAT?
Mrs Doyle: Oh, no, not cocaine. God, what am I on about. No, what d'you call them. Raisins.
the whole point is it is not available at all A&E Departments - and not available at LGI - the main hospital supporting the biggest student population in the country.
