My name's Sophia and i'm the new LGBT assembly chair. Just a quick hello, to say i'm always available for any of your political based issues or more generally if you just fancy a chat.
Assembly meetings occur on a weekly basis, although i'll have to keep you posted on times. Also campaigns on the ready!!! I'm excited, i hope you are too because the union will be getting a wake up call to LGBT issues.
I can help you deal with any issues on a university or national scale, for example, one that someone did flag up was the lack of diva on the union shop shelves?! I'll take anything to union council, where all the representatives plus the exec, will vote (and hopefully pass) amendments to legislation.
And finally... I am your representative so please use me...
Don't be sorry all v. good questions. Firstly there is no membership fee, just your love and compassion, that is all i ask. If you'd like to get involved the easiest way is to either join the FB group Leeds Uni LGBT Assembly or to private message/email me your email addy so i can put you on the mailing list. Once that's done, you'll get invites to meetings.
Unfortunately meeting times are a bit random as i'm having such trouble finding free time when everyones ok to do this but the next meeting will be tomorrow (mon 1 - 3) and yes, i will be posting times online, sally, you legend! what a wonderful suggestion!
