For those interested, there is going to be a pro-choice awareness table in the union's info point tomorrow from around 9-2 promoting women's rights to abortion, particularly relevant since the Human Fertilisation and Embryology bill is expected to be debated in parliament and it is speculated that some (Tory) MPs will argue to lower the legal cut-off point from 24 to 20 weeks, thus limiting the amount of pregnancy time women can obtain abortions for. This is especially important since it stands to affect the most vulnerable - women who have been raped, for instance, can experience periods of extreme denial before being able to confront their situation and make their choice; wanted foetuses may become unwanted if a partner is abusive; the list continues. Women NEED 24 weeks. To this end, the table will provide information about Leeds MPs and, if you want, a standard letter that you can send to your MP to encourage him or her to argue AGAINST a 20-week cut off point. For those who simply wish to find out more about this issue, there will be a lot of information at the table, so a really good opportunity to widen your knowledge.

*Please be aware that any disruptors will be dealt with by security.
There is also (I'm very excited about this) a national lobby of parliament on Wednesday 7th May! This will involve a bunch of us going to London (by coach or minibus) ready to protest for abortion rights outside parliament. Please let me know if you fancy coming - the Leeds Universities' Women's Collective need to know what kind of numbers we're taking. I am also very interested to hear from you if you have a minibus license and fancy driving!
