Well, individual states really aren't meant to barge in and tell others what to do anyway. That whole business about 'regime change' was an excuse when it turned out Iraq wasn't a security risk - nations only invade other nations if it'll advance their own personal interests. Invading Gambia for being run by intolerant twits doesn't do any other nation any good, and would just give the invaders the appearance of thinking they have the right to boss others about. I doubt it would do the actual Gambian people much good either, just lead to resentment and violence.

Now, the UN, THEY should be pointing out that this is an infringement of human rights, and giving Gambia (amongst many other nations) a right old telling off for such abysmal treatment of its citizens, but our already somewhat overstretched army has no place there.

Aaaaanyway. Enough about the workings of international politics. In general, this is just damn depressing. Why are people such morons? And why do morons end up with such power?

This is quite horrendus. It strikes me that the lgbt community is still a scapegoat in many, many nations which is such a sad state to be in, but I guess pretty inevitable in a still developing world. Maybe if we stopped poisoning wells, putting curses on babies, molesting goats, as all gays do, blatantly, then the world would be a much more tolerant place.

I always feel a bit dodgy about talk of intervening in African politics. It's truly horrible that things like this can be said, but other than offer asylum, I can't see their being much that can be done outside of Africa.
