Just walked down my main road yesterday and I saw two massive bilboards with new posters, both by 'new' labour, quoting, 'lowest unemployment in 29 years', and the other threatening boom & bust if the tories are re-elected.
Talking to someone last night, they told me that a labour party member had told them that the election was being scheduled for May 5th.
So, anyone got any other indications of an imminent election? Any posters materialising around anyone's hometowns? I think we should be told...

The Labour Party have done so much for LGBT people in the past 8 years:
Equalising the age of consent
Repealing Section 28
Introducing Legislation that protects LGBT people in the work place (not perfect but a start)
The Gender Recognition Act
The Civil Partnerships Act
The Tories would never have done any of these.
I have qualms of course, with some legislation - including the Top-Up Fee's legislation, which I am completely opposed to. However, the vote was so tight on this, I think that once Blair steps down as leader, the party might radically change this policy.
Look at the Torie's answers to higher education deficit, and you'll find they work even less than the Labour proposals, and actually reward the rich rather than the poor.
The war on Iraq is also another sore point.
But I am voting Labour because I believe in their core values, and can see behind Blair. Hilary Benn, our local MP in Leeds, is excellent and his work in the local area has been great. It'll be him I am voting for in May.

I like what Labour have done for LGBT people in society since their election back in 1997. I think they should be given our continual support with this regard. Of course, there are some things that the government has done which do not appeal to me, wars, death, working with the Americans in a war the public didn't want etc... but i still think they are a better party than their opposition and should be given another shot! xx
labour may have done some good stuff, but i'm afraid that for me, the war in iraq is enough to make sure they don't get my vote.
i giggled when we got a leaflet from our (tory) mp back home. every single picture of him doing his mp stuff with the locals had exactly the same gormless smile. he looked like tim nice but dim. but the most terrifying bit is that it's exactly the kind of smile that's going to win over all the little old ladies who voted him in in the first place.
