Photographs, Candles, Heartbreak and Hope.

1: Hearts

The sky has a heart; pulsing, revolting,
Polluting the stars, infecting the moon
With its beat. How can i tell you god loves you?
The long night shrivels at your teaching,
Withers at your touch, Traitor.
Hearts beat, hearts bleed;
The blood seeping through hearts on our sleeves,
Staining our white tunics, our orchids and coastlines.
How can it be?
Wailings are touching the highest of notes; Ts'ai Yen,
Her song, iridescent, caressing the soul, breaking the tear glands...
And now you sob, and now you mourn...

2: Faith

Lover of flowers, but all i smell is heartbreak,
My home is in ruins and my family is gone.
I'd break if i could, i'd wash out my wounds,
But the moonlight is vanquished, death clings to the air.

I'm exhausted, you're missing and i'm loving you,
If i searched for you, would i find you?

The breeze is warm, but hope turned stagnant,
You've blown it apart and no aid will help
My broken heart, my beautiful boy,
This broken world, where angels die...

3: Hurt

This night is a beacon, the moon lights the shore,
What you once loved ascended, to star-filled skies,
Tear-filled eyes, the felled palms, the blood-soaked arms,
Photographs, Candles, Heartbreak and Hope.

I know your sorrow, you'll never hurt more,
Or see that much love in another boys eyes
In any guise. the pain, the loss of loves calm,
Hold on, breathe easy, you'll hurt, break, then cope.

***This poem is dedicated to the memory of Anusit Sittichai and written with the greatest respect and awe for the continual hardwork despite immense loss of Ant. In Phuket, as you well know there has been unprecedented devestation and it's people like Ant that we should all look upto. Ant has lost his boyfriend, several members of his family and his home, not to mention countless friends. As a dentist, he has the horrific job of identifying the dead bodies, which are so deformed and burnt that it is hard to distinguish whether the people are farang (westerners) or Thai. He has already processed information on his computer on numerous occasions to discover, to his horror, that the unidentified, mangled corpses, are actually people he knew and loved. His boyfriend, his mother, his seven year old sister.....

I don't know about you, but that makes me feel kinda powerless. I'm pretty good with words, but when it boils down to it, i don't think there are words which can describe that sort of thing...

Please, if you haven't already, donate to this cause.
0870 60 60 900 is one of the best numbers to call apparently, although there are many others thanks to the amazing generosity of the british public.

Wish you all the best and hope to see you all when i'm feeling a little better

Thai x

i know some people mistrust the big umbrella organisations, and think their money will be misused, so as an alternative, here's the web address for medair, an org that my sister and her husband work for from time to time.

www.medair.org

medair is a christian thing, but don't let that put you off...... you can donate at the address if you want. they take particular care to keep overheads down, using mostly volunteers, and having as few paid staff as possible to make sure the money they recieve is well used. my sister has worked for them in the dafur in sudan twice (meeting her husband there too), but unfortunately they couldn't go to help with the tsunami.
anyway, having worked for them in the past, and intending to work for them pretty much full time in the future, they know that medair is a 'good' organisation.

apart from helping in big crises like this and the civil war in dafur, medair mostly concentrates on conflicts and situations not reported in the western press, and so often overlooked by other charities. so even after those in asia have got back on their feet, and when you're all graduated and earning lots of cash, it's a good one to make a regular donation to.

right, the online donating thing on the medair website is very easy to use, but it didn't like debit cards. use credit card instead.
