I had a word with the editor of Leeds Student three days ago and he has, in principle, agreed to a double-page spread in Leeds Student about being queer in Leeds (particularly necessary, I feel, since the introductory issue was heteronormative from cover to cover, without even a mention of the horribly popular places). I am taking responsibility for this, but would like to hear from all interested members of the society about the kinds of things you would like to see in there - recommended clubs, queer-friendly venues, generally queer things to do in the area, etc. I need to have draft wording with Laurie in two and a half weeks' time, so maybe we could have a meeting in the next week or so? Post below if you're interested and we'll figure something out.
We shall include these ... although *weeps a little* a large section of them were ended over the course of last year :o(
In other news, there has been a revision: after speaking with Lev, we actually need this information by Monday. With that in mind, please contribute sooner rather than later if you were considering it so far. Thanks to Sean for starting!
Wait, it's about being queer in Leeds in general? Lev gave me the impression it was just about the LGBT society. I need to know, seeing as I'm writing something.
Hmm. Maybe I'll just do two bits, one society-focussed and one more focussed on the city in general, and let him choose.
It's both. Obviously we want to have some/lots of society promotion, so if that's what you were going to write then by no means change it. I was just also hoping to include clubnights and things that people could go to without having to be in the society. And Hebden Bridge, obvard.
Word of advice for working with Leeds student tho, insist upon seeing whatever they intend to publish after their editing & if ur not happy don't let them just print it off... all the past issues & that.
