Hey guys, i'm tempted yet slightly scared of buying Mel C and/or Jem's new albums. I've liked the singles but does anyone know if the albums are much cop?
Stereophonics album rocks by the way, nice and angry!
Yep, indeed she is. Albeit she's now grown up, got a boob job, and had her cute freckles airbrushed out; she's one of the few ginger people I don't fancy!
I can't believe that people take the likes of Q seriously... I wouldn't trust their reviews as far as i could throw them. Or NME for that matter. The only magazine I trust is Wire, but I don't understand half their reviews, so it's a rock and a hard place really.
Disappointing news on the Imbruglia effort, I like that song of hers. How does the Mel C album compare to the current single? The chorus sounds like it should have been chucked in at the end or as a bridge somewhere or something. It's just so bloody 'almost'.
And Stereophonics, Dave? Stereophonics? Honestly. Some people.
All this when there's a new Garbage abum out to satisfy eveybody's guitar-pop needs. (although everyone seems to hate the new Garbage album...)
I liked the phonics first album, and quite like some of the stuff off of Performance and Cocktails though nothing they have done since is worth listening too.
Mel C's album will be ****. But she is like related to me [almost] so I should promte her album.
And that Jem bird pisses me off.
I really want The Bravery, Arcade Fire and Martha Wainwright's albums at the moment.
I bought two CD's yesterday - The Futureheads (because me, Ally, Alice, Adam and RIch are off to see them) and it is quite good, but only listened twice now. And Garbages new one. It is quite good.
I have a list of CD's I want as long as my arm. But I have Ł0.
Damn life!

Same here, I have soooo many CDs I want, though I did treat myself to Bjork's Debut in town today because it was only a fiver. Don't buy the Arcade Fire John, I will copy it for you

i've had a burnt copy of Debut for ages now and still haven't got round to listening to it :(
did anyone hear about that cd she was releasing for the tsunami thing. i'm interested in it as it has 35342342 remixes of her songs which would be cool!
We will turn you into an obsessive fan yet. You mark my word, you'll be discussing lyrics and singing the backing vocals in poptastic before you know it ;)
The Arcade Fire's album is also ace, as are 'I' and '69 Love Songs' by The Magnetic Fields. (If I keep plugging them on the forum, someone's bound to check them out eventually!)
Not too fond of The Bravery, myself. It doesn't bother me that they're manufactured by Polydor, but their 80s influenced synth stuff doesn't really do it for me.
I think after a week my flatmates will be grateful for me to get something new to play, I am going to spend all week learning how to play It's Oh So Quiet on the Clarinet, and the sax as appropriate so i can form a small band (rather than a big band of course)

There are about 4 decent songs on her new album IMO. I'm one of her biggest fans and I must say it is a really unimpressive album where most of the songs sound the same :(

It's bloody Brilliant! They're Brilliant! I LOVE GIRLS ALOUD!!
I think I'm actually going to Mission this evening, because my ex girlfriend is annoying me and making me cranky, and getting drunk is a great way to de-crankify.
Oh, I have your Arcade Fire copy, John. And if anyone else wants anything from my extensive collection of mopey indie music/embarrassing 90s Britpop, please do ask. I can assure you, it's probably going to be more entertaining than Mel C, Jem or Natalie Imbruglia.
