Right, I know we've only gone through the first week of events, but I thought I'd ask how you are finding them cos I want feedback so i can improve things!
Plus I've got a limited view point on things because I'm looking at them in my way, such as how many people turned up, problems me n others running events have had, what people have said to us on events.
So tell me... what events u've liked and why? any events u've not liked and why? any problems with any of the events? & what events would you like to see happening in november/december?
Nic xxx
p.s. Thanks to all of you who've come out on the events so far, the turn outs have been brilliant and its been fantastic 2 meet u all!

So far I've liked the courtyard party cos it was really relaxed and I got to talk 2 alot of you b4 I got extremely drunk, apologies 4 not been able 2 make it 2 the meals the next day, i had a union council meeting that I had to attend followed by work, also enjoyed the scene tour because its nice to go all over the gay scene and people seemed to be enjoying themselves.
little whinge, I didn't like Wind Down last night because there was hardly any committee members there 2 start it off (big thanks to Evie for actually turning up!) plus the old bar was full of the amoeba's that regularly attend fruity... fake tan in full force. Apart from that it was a gr8 opportunity to have a relaxed chat and drink with the newbies who turned up and there was a pretty good attendance in the end.
Personally I'd like to see a couple of workshops like the coming out workshop and video nights creep in2 the events list for november/december time.
Your turn.....

i really enjoyed the scene tour. the turn out was excellent and it was a good opportunity to meet and chat to people.
the courtyard party was good, but i dunno if it was the best idea for the first event, cos once we were there i had no idea who was actually with us or not. but that can't be changed now.
as for future events, i'd like to go ice skating again like last year, but i dunno if or when the skating rink will return to millenium square.
also, when we have events where we go drinking, i'd like to go to non-gay places sometime. the leeds scene is quite small, and as i really only like qc on the scene i'm sure it'll become tiresome after a while.
finally, nic, i just wanna say how much i admire your enthuisiam and dedication. keep up the good work!

I can't really comment on too much, considering I've only been to Coffee Hours and the Scene Tour so far. (Which I found really enjoyable, as it was a great chance to mingle with a wide range of people.)
As Mike suggested, I too would appreciate going to bars and clubs that aren't on the scene. While some people undoubtedly do enjoy going to Mission and QC week after week, I find going there on a regular basis to be pretty tiresome as I don't particularly like the music and I am sure I'm not the only one. Perhaps there could be a society trip to Razzmatazz? It's cheap, plays great music, and is a kickass alternative to Mission on Thursdays if you fancy something a bit different.
That said, I'd like to thank everyone who's helped organise events. Your enthusiasm is very apparent, and I live with Nic and notice for myself how much hard work she puts in.
I have enjoyed the events so far that I have been to!! If I hadn't of had so much work I would have come to winddown but other circumstances meant that I couldn't really go! Sorry Everyone!
I'd like to see some more getting-to-know each other events and I think we have had some good ideas in committee meetings - such as a mocktail event.
Speed dating is also coming up and that should be great fun - plus it is for a great cause :) So even if you are seeing someone, come anyway!

Is that all ur gonna contribute Rich? (altho i gotta disagree, mine n adams wer best we had bananarama & loadsa ppl there)
Main reason for featuring the gay scene in most of the society trips is because u can guarentee abit more safety for members on drinking events by using the scene. Not that I'm sayin "u go 2 str8 places u'll get battered" its just abit safer, just look at the problems last year with fruity (& that was at a union bar where people are meant to be more accepting) and a seperate incident at Evolution. If enough people want to have a drinking event at a str8 place then we can by all means have one, but I won't accept blame/responsiblity if anything happens.
A mocktail event will be considered n discussed at a committee meeting cos it'd b good. Not sure about doing a society trip to Razz, cos we advertise it on the forum so people know about it, plus we have non drinkin events on tuesdays mainly, if u run 2 trips in one night people only choose one or the other.
If the ice rink people come back it will definately make it on2 the evens list cos every1 enjoyed it... i'll sit around and bag watch again (fooking knee!). Was thinking just as a possibility having something like a "stars in their eyes" night, karoke machine & every1 in fancy dress as a famous singer/s or summat. Oh & a joint meal.

dunno I aint heard owt bout Razz changin days. I'll dig out the green book of goings on, in the office & go thru events suggested last year, add all recent suggestions to it & remove pages about the fundraisin idea for children in need.
So "stars in you eyes" sounds good then?

Did that make it in there as well? I know the children in need thing was a sponsored sex ****** - lesson learnt from this... NEVER take a book like that 2 Wind Down and put ideas in there!

Bloody hell, it's so good to finally have the net fixed in my rom again =)
Have loved all the events that I've managed to make it to so far =) Coffee hour each day always seems to be a good laugh and it's nice to just chill out and relax with everyone whilst I get cups of coffee made for me, hehe! (Thankyou Rich! =P)
I felt that the highlight so far really has been the scene tour, although I missed most of it (damn alcohol!) so I'm looking forward to getting out with everyone again for a night that I intend to actually REMEMBER this time =(
Looking forward to the cinema trip tomorrow night since it should be nice to do something a little different that doesn't involve drinking. Ice skating also sounds like so much (pain) fun! =D As do Nic's idea's about Stars in Their Eyes (but only if Jon gets to be Matthew Kelly obviously ;) Lol!) and such!
Just to say thankyou to everyone who organised the events =) Joe, dear, you need to stop stressing so much!

Hmph, I don't think I've ever seen you in Coffee Hour! You should join Adam in his philosophy corner (sitting on the table and looking very pensive with a copy of Plato in hand.)

Tomorrow's philosophy corner topic will be how I support terrorism. (Kinda happened by accident in one of my tutorials today)
And as an after though, my god you were an ugly child Anthony :P

all the ones ive been too have been great. was slightly puzzled with the courtyard party tho, all the officials seem to have dissappeared by about halfway through the night, but then there were a heck of a lot of people there, guess i just lost everyone. scene tour was cool, excet for the odd personal incident. and havent really managed to really stay for a coffee hour yet.
i know arrangin stuff can be tough i seemed to be the one arrangin stuff to do with mates back at home, and nothing ever went smoothly, so great job nic.
You've been doing a fab job nic, we can't say we haven't had any opportunities to do things! Scene Tour was amazing, despite the crappy weather at the end. At least it kinda sobered me up (but gave me a cold in the process). And the Courtyard party was sooo confusing, I couldn't remember who were part of the soc and who weren't, but it didn't really matter. Gonna try and go to more coffee hours, even though I have less important things on a lot of the time (i.e. lectures ).
Oh and good luck to whoever's been given the short straw of organising Manchester. Can't wait to see how many of us freshers won't make it home afterwards!!! Maybe we should take bets?!
I'm really in favour of the joint meal, because I know quite a few people that didn't go to the seperate ones but would go to a joint one. The meal was really good though, I ate so much tasty food I actually nearly exploded right there and then.
Courtyard party did get pretty busy and apologies for my dissappearance, I got told not 2 come back 2 the bar bout 9.30.
Manchester Trip is in the hands on Thai Dave, Rich, Phil and Adam to organise, cos am working on saturday and joeys got the night off to get wasted.
The meals, well the decision to have them seperately at first was so that women could have an opportunity to mix with the women (mainly cos coffee hour is male dominated and we r tryin 2 get more lasses involved in the society) and 4 the boys to mix. After the next round of seperate meals there will be a joint meal (november/december time)
Again thanks every1 for all the thank yous. If you've got any events suggestions at all and any suggestion about how to improve things, please by all means put the on here and let me know... end of day its your society n u paid the joinin fee so tell us what events u want...

If anyone gives us any **** on Saturday, I'm putting you on a train to Stoke (or somewhere equally scummy that isn't Manchester!).

You can't do that, u have to look after people on the events (health & safety) even if they r being arseholes. If Rich tries 2 send any of u to stoke, gimme a ring n i'll get me mate in stoke 2 sort u out....
