I've seen so many films with potentially 'gay' themes or scenarios, that I can hardly recall 10-15 of them.
I would like some help to start compiling a list with films that you have seen or would like to see. Why? I am going to suggest to a local video shop to create a section with gay/LGB films; not just (or mostly) porn like the clone zone. They don't have to shout that the films are gay/LGB, but at least the shop staff would know to direct those who are interested. It's good to know that at least one video shop in town can be LGB friendly.
Feel free to post your suggestions here. I will start collecting them with much esteem.
My favourite film with a gay theme is 'La Mala educacion' (Bad Education 2004). Gael Garcia Bernal is my hero.
I would absolutely love to see a film called 'Eating Out' (2004) which stars the beautiful Ryan Carnes (Justin in 'Desperate Housewives': the gardener's housemate). It is an American indie which was made last year and there's been no sign of it over here.
Also 'Johns' (1996) with Lukas Haas and David Arquette - you can guess what it's about from the title.
Thank the world for the imdb.

Not really. I saw it when going to San Francisco (that on the way there, and La Mala Educacion on the way back. Virgin Atlantic seem to like their gay films!) and it was amazingly pretentious with a laughable script and unrealistic acting. I really didn't care about the characters one bit, and I usually get quite emotionally involved in things.
Also not recommended: Bound. But I think everyone knows my feelings about that film by now.

Was shown some point last year at the Hyde Park Picture House - they had some kind of gay month thing going on. Didn't go and see it, although I was tempted.
I know he's not playing a gay character but the god of my life Gael Garcia Bernal has a new film called 'The King' which is showing next month as part of the Leeds Film Fest.
Also showing is 'Mrs Henderson Presents' which stars Judi Dench and is Will Young's first film. Exciting stuff.

Here's some more film suggestions for your titiation (or not)
Urbania- A really cool sophisticated American indie film, which blurs the distinction between realiy and urban myth. About a gay man who has just broken up with his boyfriend and is living on the edge.
Wilde- (Stephen Fry as Oscar Wilde). If you like sexual repression and period gay, you'll love this quintessentially English film-biography of the Victorian gay hero Oscar Wilde, with all the whit, pathos and tragedy you expect from a BBC film. Also the film features an 18-year-old Jude law with a great arse, although his acting isn't wonderful.
Maurice- (James Wilby as Maurice and Hugh Grant as clive) Another piece of period gayness, adpted fom the 1914 novel Maurice by the closet homosexual writer E.M Forster is wonderfully shot and athentically acted. The story of pre-war England and a young's man's journey from the closet to the affirmation of his sexual identity. A powerful critique of puritanical English morality and the class-system the film stands as a faithful representation of the novel. At its heart it is also a love story between the young man Maurice and his working-class loverAlec, a film both intellectual and subversive.
The Long Firm- Not a film, actually a four part serial of the Novel by Jake Armott about a 1960's gay gangster Harry Starks; racketeer, showbiz wannabe and porn-king. A fantastic serialisation full of pace, black humour and drama, The long firm flicks between social comment, irony and horror with ease, making the audience love Harry Starks, despite his morally doubious dealings. Harry Starks is the romantic smooth criminal. I would definately recommend this.

WILDE is GREAT!!! One of the best movies I've ever seen. You can never have to much of Mr Law in the buff!!!! Besides, it was a wicked film, and a pretty accurate biography by all accounts.
This year is a good one for mainstream gay orientated films.
Need I say more than Brokeback Mountain a major Hollywood adaptation of Annie Proux novella about the enduring relationship between two ranchhands (see also BIGGAYREAD.COM, which is already tipped for a couple of oscars and another film coming our way shortly is TransAmerica the story of a pre-operative transsexual named Bree who goes on a cross-country road trip with a 17-year-old boy she’s just found out is her son.
Apart from that Wilde is fantastic, mysterious skin - disturbing but wonderfully acted Bad Education, good Querelle - presents a very different view of what it takes to be considered gay Mambo Italiano - Corny and not as good as my big fat greek wedding but watchable D.E.B.S - Amusing
Bear cub is a film I want to see
A low budget one available from edward boyle high demand is A canadian Film called 2 brothers that although the production values are not fantastic the plot is artfully constructed and draws you in.
Auberge Espagnole is pretty good - it's about a bunch of ERASMUS students (we're the best kind!), some of which are lesbian, and some of which pretend to be gay, etc. It's the funniest film I've seen in ages.
......oh, most of it is in French - and it's got that lass from Amilie in it!
can anyone tell me what brokeback mountain is like? i´m thinking of going out shopping for gay DVDs this evening in our lovely little (well, it´s actually huuuuuge) gay quarter in Munich, and if it´s already on DVD, i´ll buy it : )
hooray for gays! and c0ck! and chocolate! and hooray for the flange-lovers out there, yes nic and queef, i mean you...

Just thought of another to add to the list 'A Home at the End of the World' another adaption from a book off BIGGAYREAD.COM
Its a touching film and questions assumptions about human relationships and conventionality while also clinging to the belief tat there is someone out there for each of us, occasionally we have to share though. First heard about the film through gaywired.com and apparently there is a fulll frontal of Colin Farrell that was a bit too distracting that it was edited out (Sigh). However to be honest I got too caught up in the story to notice.
