Drizzle spits
its monotonous spell
well, and raindrops
like tears on a spiderweb
hang from electricity cables
with the preciousness of light.

Inside, my gladioli
solely smile with flame-
like budfulls of colour

and Walcott on my lap
dances to John's guitar,
delighting in the swing of
a Saturday morning

full of nothing but musical lack
of concentration.

I love that stanza, because I love how you've managed to make something ordinary sound so beautiful. My favourite poets are those who can bring out the beauty in things not necessarily thought of as beautiful.

Nice work, Alby.

That bit is sooooooo good! I was reading Ruins of a Great House earlier and it's so accurate. Poignant stuff Alby, as per!
Keep it coming

Thanks, guys! It's always nice to get positive feedback from people. I've just realised one of my alliterations doesn't really work, but hey, you don't seem to have noticed! :oP

I'm in the mood for other type of poetry tonight, but my ink, I think, is way too rusty. Wow! That's a good start!

Alberto your poem about the ordinary is as usual, so extraordinary.

And yep, that is a haiku.

:)

Thanks, John! I was trying to do it a bit synchopated (right spelling?), like jazz, but I don't think it worked very well. Don't like the poem very much.
