Sigh. You know, I really should be working right now.

-----

It surprised me -
I could pinpoint the date.
I felt him
Impregnating me
Through met lips,
Quiet breaths,
Spittle helixes.
I knew.

How long the gestation?
How difficult the birth?
Do I get an epidural?

I don’t want an epidural.
I will let nature take its course.
I will suffer for it.

Allow me to play with words.

I will love this bastard child -
I will love this bastard -
I will love this -
I will love -
I will -
I.

I, alone, will love this bastard child of mine.

Brilliant! The last stanza is a bit similar to one of mine, too. Methinks we picked it up somewhere.

It's a bit... callow, though, isn't it? Ah well. I'm young. It's to be expected.

We can't help our age, I'm afraid. But there's something charming about poetry by young poets. I think we'll miss it when we're older.
