We are meeting at the station at 11am and taking the fastest train to York, cause we're taking the train. None of that bus crappy stuff.
Then we're taking the scenic route to the Minster (that means stopping to see St Mary's Abbey and the park and the museum).
The York Minster tour is not very expensive, but it does take a lot of time, so we will appreciate as much of it as the free area can afford, and then we'll go back out and proceed.
We are stopping nearby and I'll let you people wander around for a bit (lots of lovely shops, and after all, some of us are gay), agreeing on a meeting time and place (probably the place where we'll be standing before disseminating). I know some people may get a bit disorientated, so maybe groups should be organised in which there's someone who knows the city.
Then we can proceed towards the Shambles for some lunch. If there are not many of us we could fit in a tea house. If not, we can always divide into groups and go to two or more of them.
After that... woo hoo! Walk to the Tower at the bottom of the city. If people are tired, we can forget about that and recreate in a pub in the high part of town... there are quite a few nice ones near the Minster.
After that, we're taking another scenic route by walking on the town walls. It's nice. it's probably the only way you'll be able to walk in a straight line after being to a pub.
Once we're back on the ground, it's time to say good-bye to the wonderful city of York and make it back to the station...
Ideas from members are welcome!
Bear in mind, though, that we should be back in Leeds by dinner-time so that those people wanting to join the Hyde Park Pub quiz can make it on time.
Stu knows a gay night in York on a Sunday. People can stay behind, but it's your responsibility to find your way back to Leeds, as I won't be in charge then.

Thanks to the people who came! We were a small bunch (in fact "bunch" would be saying too much already), but York is a beautiful place to visit at this time of year... no matter how many people join in the fun.
The cream tea was delicious, and your company made up for the low temperature!

3 in Leeds and another one joined us in York. It was a nice day out, but I did get the feeling that people prefer to do other things. It's also remarkable that two of them had come to the Tea and Cakes Otley Run.

well i for one actually really wanted to come and i think it would've been great. unfortunately my flatmates friend had already booked tickets for harry potter (which is awesome) and i'm not the type of person to back out and leave someone in the lurch and have to pay for me when i said i'd go. i do hope you enjoyed yourselves
