That film is absolute CRAP.

Don't go expecting a love story, they show no emotion or passion. The story is boring and drags on for TOO LONG with scenes that add **** all to the film that are just needless and boring and the ending ruins the whole film.

I've heard very good reviews of this film! I love Ang Lee's films in general, but I would say a slow pace is definitely part of his style, so I wouldn't recommend his films to everyone. Although the fights in Crouching Tiger... wooooooo! Those are exciting!

I'd go and see it with you, guys, if I weren't so far away from Leeds.

I'm up for seeing it, just read the novella - to short to be considered a novel - and though left wanting a bit I thought it was a good book, and I generally like Ang Lee Films. Also was going to be my stress relief during the exam period. I have an orange phone so Orange Wednesdays are a possibility.

I'd like to go and see it; I've read pretty good reviews and could do with a bit of an exam winddown.

I'd like to go see it as well as long as you're not planning on going during the week this week as I can't spare the time from revision.... how sad does that sound....

I think avoiding/escaping from revision was their idea, Chris.

I won't be back till Sunday, so if anybody fancies seeing it after that...

If not, I'll drag the boyfriend out to see it this weekend. :)

Following the popular demand to see this film, I'm organising a trip to see it with international students on the 29th. More details on the term 2 events thread.

As with all events for international students, the main aim is to mingle, so even if you're a Brit, you're very welcome to join in!

I've just come back from seeing this with Alison, and although it is about 20 minutes too long, I thought the film was great. The two lead characters were played to precision by Jake and Heath.

The film was very intimate - not much ' action' went ont, but the scenes between Ennis and Jack were great. They seemed very natural together, and when they touched or hugged or stood in eachothers arms, feeling was very believeable. It was also deeply emotional I thought and the final scenes were moving.

Granted, this isn't a rollercoaster ride film with tons of action or spectacle. Rather it is a intimate, close up portrait of love that cannot be. The times when the actors were silent were often the best.
