Lisa, Stu and I arrived as told in the email at 12.30 at the Parky Steps (in the rain!!), and no one turned up.
We would at least expect a member of the committee to be there to oversee the event, or an email to let us know if the event was either not happening or had been changed.
I also turned up and was a bit peed off to see that there was nobody from the committee there. It was just the 4 of us.
What if someone new had come to there first event and found nobody there waiting for them?
Someone from the committee should have been there, you can give all that crap about having busy lives etc but if you are going to organise an event then someone should turn up. There is no excuse.
Sorry guys, we should have made sure somebody was there.
We had a meeting on Friday (none of us that attended could come today) but we were meant to be asking the other committee members if they'd be there, otherwise we were gonna cancel the event. For whatever reasons this didn't happen, and i can only offer my apologies.
Please don't let it putt you off coming to any other events, i will personally make sure that every other event detailed in an email is covered!
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry!

Surely it can't be that difficult to make sure that just one commitee member turns up to an event you advertised! I recommended to someone thinking of joining that they should try some of the events and the first one they went to no commitee members turned up! Doesnt really make the society look very good does it!?
Its a shame they missed those of you who were able to attend, i know they were looking forward to meeting some new people!
We quite aware we screwed up on this one, and other than apologise there ain't much we can do now. Needless to say the committee will be reviewing the events plans for the rest of the term to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Ok, i seem to have dug myself a bit of a hole here, I apologise for any offence caused. It was not my intention to sound rude, i was just trying to vent some frustration + convey a point. Anyway I've learnt my lesson- don't write posts when grumpy! Grumpy me is never very eloquent!

Don't feel too bad! I know nothing else can be done considering the event's over and the committee acknowledged their mistake, but you do have a right to feel frustrated.
I hope this won't put you off coming to other events. I'd try something like a bowling trip or cinema trip as they're usually quite popular, or why not drop in to a coffee hour (not on Friday as everyone tends to have post-Mission hangovers) to get to know some society members informally?
I agree with my fellow committee members. We failed you on this one. However, it's not being an easy time. The day before the event one of our Co-events officers stepped down from her position (as you can see in the General forum), and we couldn't act very quickly after that.
Sorry about that, guys!
Alby here, in a computer cluster and therefore unable to sign in. *Humph*
I don't think anyone is blaming Nic though? It's patently not her fault and is just a mistake of the committee, for which they have graciously apologised and not gone on some 'i'm so busy look at me feel sorry fo us trip). Case closed as far as i can see.

Chersbitch, I wasn't blaming Nic at all, but our need to get to grips with the present situation without her. As JohnK said, it was our mistake, and we're sorry.
