Just wondering if there were any plans for another curious soon. I know it wouldn't be till next term but it was such a good night.
Went to mission for the first time on thurs and it was dreadful. Sorry to all you mission afficionados but it was completely the wrong type of place for me, yeah there were loads of fit guys walking around but the entire atmosphere just grated. I went with two friends who also didn't have a good time both also felt uncomfortable there and one additionally felt that as it was a gay club there should be some lesbians around. I also didn't appreciate being groped by the bouncer on the way in and when I pushed his hands away being personally insulted. Mission just seemed to epitomise everything I hate about the scene.
On the plus side I went to canal street on the friday to meet one of my friends from Canada and his boyfriend and we had an absolute blast, no agro and no attitude either.
It all depends on when Mine is free. We wanted to have another one before Easter, but it doesn't look possible at the moment. It'll be back soon though, bigger and better than ever, don't worry!

The Manchester scene is so much more relaxed than Leeds. It's not completely attitude free, but much less so than Leeds. Though Fibre is taking over, so expect a load of wankers down there soon enough!
On the note of Curious, I am definitely at least coming this time, and am more than happy to lend my djing skills :)

Likewise. Well, I can at least lend my CD collection to the cause and stand next to John looking pretty.
My feelings about Mission are exactly the same, which is why I don't go. With drinks becoming less and less palatable (from vodka, to brand name alcopops, to Tescos value 'blue raspberry' alcoholic drink) I feel it only encourages drug usage and to me, that doesn't equal a good time.
nah P, it´s just that mission is like amnesia...you´re not sure what happened the last time you went, so you go again, remember, and promptly wipe it from your memory. so you go again, ad infinitum. (bad analogy, i know, lol)
i´m missing mission like hell, but i know when i go back, it´s going to be like stepping into the lion´s den. again.
because you know that´s ALWAYS fun...

I have just received news from Adam that Mine Bar has been provisionally booked for Wednesday 17th May
We would have liked to have held it earlier, but this was the only free wednesday available. There were two thursday bookings free but i dont think we could compete with Mission!
Strat counting down the days!.

Whoa, a gay orientated night at our very own union... Sounds too good to be true! I'm missed the last event but would be soooo good if another Curious was arranged. We should have a regular spot for a 'gay' union night. Would be fantastic. Mission is cool but there is always room for a change of scenary! Sheffield have Climax (once a month on a Friday) at their Union and that has a great turn out... Granted, thet don't have a developing scene as some, but it's up and coming! Am I the only one with this thought in mind? WE NEED CURIOUS!!!
Pweese feel free to write back... New to this LGBT forum!
Mine is booked for 17th May. It's difficult to make any plans in advance of that as we don't know who will be on the committee till Thursday. Needless to say if me and Adam are elected Curious will become a regular event in the Union.

Wicked.... Thats good to hear... How do I vote... Like I stated, I'm new to all all this! Not really aware of LGBT. A regular event at the Union would be a great thing. Somewhere else to go other than Mission!
AGM = Annual General Meeting, where we elect the new committee. Feel free to come along and watch - we'll be going to Mission afterwards - but you can't vote if you're not a member and i can't really sign you up at the AGM as thats a little like buying votes!

Memebrs get to vote on policy and elect the new committee at AGMs. They also get free tea and coffee in Coffee Hour and a gold card giving free entry to Mission on a Saturday and Thursday night (except we've ran out of these at the moment!).You can join up in coffee hour any day 12-2 in the ARC.

Everyone has to come on their own to coffee hour once! It's like an induction, a right of passage! Plus there'll be committee people there to make sure you dont feel left out!

It's usually either dead or really busy. Either way there'll be plenty of friendly people there to talk to! The hardest bit is walking through the door not knowing anybody, but once you're in the scariness decreases.

I know that there used to be a lgbt event once a month in the union (stylus) called creamy, got cancelled but was always fighting with the uni over taste and decency in the posters. One I can remember was 'come and get creamed'.
