I realised last night why I haven't been to Mission in six months. It has to be the most horrible place in leeds.

It was full of queeny people off their face on horse pills and the set-list that DJ plays hasb't changed either! People must get bloody bored. Now I am not the biggest pop-music fan, as you know, but I like to have a good dance now and again. I just felt the atmosphere in there last night was awful.

However, I did have a good time. Mainly due to the fact that Jenni, Lisa, Stu, Sally and Sophie adopted me for the night and made me laugh and dance. I especially liked Jenni's dancing!

:)

Anyhow, hope you are all well. I got to uni this mornign 20 minutes early, only to be told that our group wasn't needed till 11.30. Fuck! And I stink of cigarette smooke, even after a long shower. :(

Thats a bitch bout ur group.

Mission is a **** hole/dodgy vetinary surgery, the lesbians are just mulleted clones wi the same blonde steaks, suit jackets ripped jeans n t-shirts, pretentious attitude and if the ppl there aren't chewin their faces off on pills, they r slumped in a corner dribbling. Attractive bunch really! :o)

I had a good time last nite, so cheers 2 all who danced with me, Patrick thanls for the worst fag I've ever tasted in my life it was an experience (davidoff shud stick 2 perfume), Emily J thank you 4 jumping on board the tequila wagon... it saved me from looking like a sad alki, sorry if its come back in the form of a hangover 2day, Sarah cheers 4 listening 2 me ramble on bout god knows wot, Joey & Kate, thanks for making sure I got home in 1 piece n putting up wi me in luckys. Joe, am sorry 4 buying a 18" meatheads n madcows to share, I dont understand the word vegetarian when am drunk & did the taxi driver really only charge us 3quid?

Not out next Thursday cos am at Prison Officer Selection Tests - round 2 on the friday (my birthday). 10th March in the evening its a bring a bottle 80's popstar themed house party... if any1 wants 2 come. Then am off home n out round Sheffield wi the South Yorks & Chezzy lot on saturday, YAY going 2 a good scene where the folk aint druggies or clones, just pissheads!!!

Wow, John. I thought I was the only person in Leeds who felt that way. I took the ex there a month or so ago, just 'cause he'd never gone when he was living here, and even he liked it. I really don't like it.

But! As with any ****hole, you go with the right people it can still be a laugh, I suppose. Leeds needs better regular gay (LGBT?) club night... maybe then I'd actually go.

Well, I had spent all week practising in front of my mirror to get my moves sorted

Anyway, I have to agree with both John and Stu... while Mission itself may be a bit plops, the people that you go with (and all the drama that ensues) make it fun!

Glad you enjoyed our company John! We should all go to HiFi again on a wednesday.

I didn't realise anyone genuinely liked mission for the club, I can't think of anywhere worse! I only go cos its one of the only times in the week I get to see a lot of people outside of coffee hour (adds a little bit of variation but not much!). If there was an alternative I wouldn't give the place a second look so I'm looking forward to lots more of curious!

It's definitely the people you go with that makes it! Although the DJ last night was alright, not the bloody annoying one. To be honest I don't think I'd go often if it weren't for the lovely gold card gettin us in free!!
And Nic, no worries bout the tequilla wagon. I have a nasty habit of saying 'why not?!' to drink ideas with mates. And I couldn't leave you to suffer without the salt and lemon on your own!

I was tryin 2b all gentledykey by giving u the wedge of lemon... altho it did get progressivly harder 2 do the tequilas without salt or lemon... bit 2 mingin.

If any1 fancies coming down sheffield next sat let me know, rumour has it am goin 2 fuel with my rather mad (but sweet n fairly controllable) mate, with a few others I can round up. Sheff train station dunt open til 5am mind n 1st train back 2 leeds int til then either, but I can try n sort summat like crashin at mine if any1 wants 2 come (my mum wont mind, she's put up wi me 4 quite a few years n knows wot am like). If any1's up 4 it let me know...

I quite like being drunk sometimes. But that isn't the reason I go out.

I really don't know why people go back week-after-week. :S

My idea of fun does not involve a bunch of hyped-up gayers on horse pills. The only reason they go back to Mission week after week is because they're too pilled up to remember what it's like.

Bring back Razzmatazz. Or a similar event. Gayers and gay-friendlyers of Leeds need a decent alternative to the quagmire of fromage that is Mission.

just because u dont like it doesnt mean other cant. Some of us actually do like the music and do like going and being able to just go and have fun and be ourselves without worrying if some stupid lad is gonna chuck a beer at us. People are entitled to their own opinions and likes. theres a few hundred ppl atleast in mission evry wk, i doubt all of them r pilled up. ever thought people actually like going.

In defence of Alice, lots of people do do drugs in mission. Anyway, if people want a nice night out, come to York on a Sunday and go to Toffs, wooo.

You keep promoting that one.... lol

I agree with Alice, and nobody has said you shouldn't like it. I just reckon it's a bag of ****.

And the places I enjoy going to don't necessarily have people throwing beer at me....... so don't make presumptions!

Right, my curiosity has been piqued one too many times by this! When is the LGBT going to run a York trip?

Hani, there's no need to be so defensive. I'm fully aware that many people enjoy Mission, and if you find it to be an accepting and friendly place, then power to you. I'm actually researching gay tourism and gay economies for my dissertation so I can't deny the appeal the commercial gay scene has. In spite of this, commercial gay clubs and bars don't really appeal to me. Each to their own. It'd be boring if we all liked the same music and same atmosphere on a night out, after all.

altho luckily i havent had any homophobic treatment in fruity.. its **** ther tho.

i fink mission can b alright if u go once a month or two or somethin! can get quite crowded in ther, which is slightly annoyin. and dont all the pillheads stay in that dancey room bit? Im always in the cheese area, so i dont really notice'em.. or im just ignorant.

QC however, is a whole different story. My GOD

Mission is a horrid place where it ALWAYS gets too hot, where they only play a handful (or less... maybe three fingers) of good songs, where many people just go to pull or get absolutely trashed, and it normally gets so packed a trip to the toilets can be a full adventure.

But, before anybody jumps at me, I understand if some people like it... musical tastes differ, the temperature is lower when you're standing right by the main entrance, and you can stay sober if you like and get "compliments" from the groping man (whom I've never met, by the way! Say hello from me! ).

As someone's said before (don't feel like reading all the posts again to make sure who) enjoying Mission very much depends on the people you go there with.

Yongee, I have to disagree... I think QC is not a different story. It's just as bad!! The place is designed for people to rub themselves against your arse in a packed corridor, to start with, and it's blatantly just too small for all the people who go! But then, some lovely people work there and the atmosphere is nice for Sunday dinner.

Okay, I´m detecting some people sliding on their stances against Mission here, so I´m here to help...

Mission is - for the most part - a bag of ****e in my view. It really is. I´ve been going for over two years and the only time I enjoyed it was when I was so fvcking doped out on anti-depressants I didn´t really no where I was, or I was drinking myself into the regular alcoholic´s oblivious state, and therefore didn´t care.

Mission IS full of drug takers and drug-addicts, and we all know it. A club where they go round selling poppers as "room deodoriser"? Are you ACTUALLY serious? You´d have to be an idiot not to realise that the majority of people in there are on speed, poppers, phet, ket (mainly), coke, and god know what else they can shove up their nose, stick in their arm, or blow up their arse.

Despite these facts, and they ARE facts, Mission does sometimes contain some rather nice individuals (the majority of whom I feel frequent these boards!!) and some of those people taking the drugs are not in fact, twats at all - some of them are the loveliest people you are likely to meet!

Let´s not pretend like we don´t know these things - that´s just pathetic. Mission is just pretty much the most typical example of the Leeds scene, and that´s about as much as can be said about it. Good nights can be had, but then there are so often bad nights that the good ones kinda get forgotten.

Some of the best things which can be said about QC is that some of the staff are WONDERFUL people, and that it´s so narrow nobody really has the space to take too many drugs.

I´m looking forward to the day I get back to the Leeds scene, to realise why I left it.

Mission is a **** tip full of druggies and wankers, but you all cant deny its not fun when you're there with lots of people and you've had a bit to drink. After being reminded why I hate QC again, Mission will seem like a blessing!

K i admit it is a sleazy hole, but i for one do actually like the music they play and its nice to go somewhere where ur pretty much guaranteed to run into atleast 5 people u know. I generally just ignore the ket heads and have a good time. Its a good place to just dance around like a twat and let loose cuz evryone expects it anyway

as has been said good companay makes up for most part.
nor have i had problems finding people again after going to the toilet....

In a parallel universe, there's a well-lit Mission with an orderly toilet queue and brand name alcopops, complete with fit convivial bouncers playing Goldfrapp without a bad DJ singing Monster Mash over the top.

In Mission's favour, it's not Fibre, I suppose.

Im kinda thinking of getting a new gay night going once a month at a 'straight' club, but just playing around with the potential of if it will work or not...

What do you think?

Hypothetically.....

Student only Gay night once a month, most probably a weekday
Bondi / Baha / Evolution type venue
Student Friendly priced Drinks
Cheese / Dance / RnB

Invitations to LGBT's from other unversities in Yorkshire...

and maybe something like a glass of bubbly on entry...

If entry was, say £5, Would you be interested in going??
