Just thought I’d share something with you; I went to have my first round of Hep B vaccinations yday (u have to have three) and thought I should spread the good sexual health word! I’ve put a link below should you want some more info, but general message is Hep B is bad, and there is a vaccine, and its free and id urge you to get it done! Plus the nurse was loving me and my sexual health so do it to validate your self-concept as well!
FYI, you can have your HEP A done at the same time. Just ask. I have been vaccinated against both.
I'd also say that if you are having regular sex, you should pay a visit to the GUM clinc about every 6 months for a check up. The nurses are real cool and there are gay sexual health workers there who are very supportive.

At the GUM at Leeds you can only book appointments 48 hours in advance, as with a lot of surgeries now. Once you have an appointment you can book your HEP B course there and then, like I did.
I'd recommend everyone go get it done.
:)

Aye, but u have 2 start ringin at 8.45am & come 9.15 all the appointments are gone... its a lottery 2 get thru n can take fooking ages 2 get an appointment sorted, much longer than this fantastic claim of been seen 48hours after ringin up 4 an appointment

This is true, but you can often get cancellations if you call up. It's really the only way they can work it, especially seeing as it is important to get an infection or suspected infection seen to ASAP.

Thats true, but even if u get thru and there are no appointments, ur given the number 4 the triage line, who ask u bout symptoms u have and then tell u whether or not its important enough to be given an appointment in 48hours... if not ur told to keep ringing the usual number and u'll eventually get an appointment to get seen.
There's gotta be a better system of doing it & its pretty daft 2 have just one GUM clinic for a big city. If they know its a problem, why not open a smaller clinic in the problem areas... that way more people can be seen and faster

Well there are HIV specific clinics for Gay/Bi men in town ran by the THT(Wednesdays between 5 and 7 on a first come first served basis, results within 1 hour - Scott will know exactly, being Men's Officer)
You can go to your GP aswell.
The system is far from perfect, but when I went to the GUM clinic I had a really good experience. I got to talk to a gay health advisor and the nurses were great. Most GP surgeries run this '48 hour' system now and it is usually first come first served.
