Well it'll be students only, and with it being in the union there will be no drugs, which is what a lot of people seem to be complaining about with regards to mission. Also there will be a more diverse selection of music. Think of the last Curious with a new name!

no offence guys, but even when we had creamy (back before most of you were here...damn i'm old!), people were regularly shoving sh1te up their teeny little nose-holes, and there were BOUNCERS present...

...at least it will be LESS drug-filled and almost queen-less! (god bless our queeny sisters, they keep us laughing through the drugdery of their existence...i mean ours.)

There may be drugs, but there shouldn't be any bright orange 40 year-olds with beer bellies and burberry scarves trying to pull you. Surely that's a plus!

That julia/Jesus/Grappa line is such an in joke! It's nice to be part of the crowd though!

Anyhoo, is there any chance we can get rid of the outdated Curious photo and replace it with either like some Madonna images or a bit of the poster for the new 'gay night at the uni'?

I haven't been in almost a year, but I'm willing to bet that it's three-quarters cheesy pop (Kelly Clarkson, Sugababes, etc.) with an eighth of old cheesy pop (Bananrama, Wham, Abba) and an eighth of mainstream indie (Franz Ferdinand, Hard-Fi, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, etc.)

so what would you prefer?

Are Sugababes cheesy? I always thought all that faux-R&B of JLo, Mariah, Ashanti, et al was a lot more cheesy. Although I still don't rule out playing them, I suppose.

I don't think the poster for the 'gay night at uni' will be put up there as it isnt an LGBT society event its being run independently... but something different would be good for a change!

It's not that any one song is more cheesy than another, just that it's always the SAME songs week in week out that makes it a bit odd.
Play some OTHER cheesy songs and everyone would be happy!

Obviously I'm not there to savour the delights of the Leeds scene, so I'm not 100% sure which cheesy songs you mean (Toxic? Lose My Breath? to hazard a guess.)
Perhaps you should mention this in the Requests Thread

Obviously, this is an idea to try & make everyone happy, so if you don't comment there, you can't complain after that the music was rubbish And remember, one person's overplayed crap might be someone else's crowdpleaser.

...I haven't checked with Richard, but I'm not sure whether there is a "BYO Choonz" thing this time, he hasn't mentioned it up to now so I'd guess not?

I'm looking into getting a new picture, but I'm afraid things are gonna have to be updated in bits and pieces here and there for the time being! I was thinking I could have a real go at it after my exam, but it seems people want it done sooner (which I agree with really) so you'll keep getting surprised every so often (hopefully it'll be pleasantly surprised, but if you really don't like something let me know!)

Indeed.

That's why Mission attracts huge crowds, and I'm usually found in venues the size of aeroplane toilets that play obscure songs that sound like tap-dancing or have names like 'The Vietnamese Telephone Ministry'. (Adam or Finn will clarify...)
