PEP is a drug that may prevent HIV infection after the virus has entered the body, if administered within a short period of time. i dont know if many people know about this drug, and im not convinced of its reliability, but its well worth a look on the below link, to the Terrence Higgins Trust website
Richard that sort of shameless advertising would be as bad as me saying "By your tickets for the LGBT Summer Ball whilst you still can". But im a bigger person than that so i shall refrain.....
PEP is not a vaccine. It's like a morning after pill for HIV and needs to be taken withing 72 hours of sleeping with someone you suspect of being HIV positive and stay on a course of medication for some time which makes you extremely ill. It's generally used for medical professionals in case they become infected but you can go to A&E and ask for it supposedly.
This is no way, of course, means people can go around and shag whoever they want and simply take a drug to stop them developing HIV. Far from it in fact. I am not sure of it's success rate, but what I do know that taking PEP can make someone violently ill for a while.
I'll have to ask Ally or someone more clever and informed about it than me for information, but that is what I know. Some of it could be a little inaccurate, but that's what I can remember.

This might clear things up a little? A basic FAQ about PEP.
And just to make sure this message hits home.....
PEP is not a cure for HIV and is not guaranteed to prevent HIV from taking hold once the virus has entered the body. Condoms and lube for sex remain the most efficient way of staying safe from HIV.
That's taken from the CHAPS website

Yeah, PEP seems to be a good thing to know about, but its not easily abaliable to us proles, it does not work in every case and the side effects can be so bad that the drug has to stopped being taken.
Also, there are leaflets about PEP in blaydes if your in the area and want some more information.
