At conference I came across a little but hard-working group called Bagels, designed to bring together LGB Jews. One of my fellow delegates Dan has been working hard over the past few months to up their profile and suggested that I should help set one up in Leeds. For anyone who doesn't know I'm converting to Judaism at present and feel it would be brilliant if a group like this could up an running. If anyone is an LGB Jew or knows anyone who might be interested please get in touch with me either on the forum or by e-mail punkrainbow@hotmail.co.uk. My hope is to get something up and running in partnership with the LGBT assembly for September. For more details concerning Bagels see http://www.pinknews.co.uk/news/articles/2005-1098.html or e-mail bagels@ujs.org.uk
I appreciate Daniels efforts from Nottingham Uni. However, he said he was eager to draw on the experience of LGBT groups from other religious denominations too. He mentioned the inspiring initiatives of LGBT students from Royal Holloway, who are currently trying to bring together, LGTB students from a wide range of religions to set up a religious LGBT network where everybody will focus on similarities rather than differences. I very much support this idea, though I believe we need somebody really committed to launch similar action in Leeds. I am sorry I'm not involved so much in religion myself, but I will support actively every initiative towards that direction. Any ideas?

Good idea Ben. I know there are quite a number of Jewish LGBT people around campus and it would be great for them to meet up and share experiences/socialise.
It would also be great if the same could be done with Islamic/Hindu/Sikh/Christian/Buddhist students as well - in fact any LGBT student with faith often face similar issues.
And as a side note, and without the hint of wanting to be offensive. Just, you being called JesusBitch Ben made me smile when you said you were converting to Judaism.
:)
