Hmmmm Well i attended a THT meeting the other day and was informed that the rainbow weekend is off as it was believed that pride would take over. However due to minor oversights ok huge balls up actually leeds may not be able to afford closing off lower brigate as first thought so we may just have a parade but that may not happen either. Anyway i was thinking we all must know enough people to bring back the hyde park picnic in its original glory what do you all say. I will email the former organiser to ask how he does it can i get an ah men
p.s. closing off brigate costs £7000 plus security the parade will cost £6000 with volenteer stewards
**** that lets all buy a rainbow flag n walk up n down lower briggate all day... no1s stupid enuff 2 try n run a massive group of people over & its a much more cost efficient way of havin a pride

I saw an advert for Leeds Pride the other day and it did rather make me laugh. Whilst I do have an affection to the scene in Leeds, the fact that the advertisement called it a 'Gay Village' amde me laugh out loud.
What was slightly more offensive was the fact that they are calling the parade 'Meat in the Street'. This smacks of Terry George and his Fibre-Queen hencmen and ladies taking over what should really be an event about community, charity and protest. Not an excuse to dance to crappy dance music, take drugs and shag randoms.
Manchester Pride, thank god, still retains its community focus, and whilst there is the usual commerical side of it to play with, there are just as many community led events. And all the profits from wristbands, and all the money dropped in buckets, and from what I can gather, a large amount of money is donated by the bars and clubs.
Leeds, sadly it seems, is no place to be gay, less you conform to the monopolising forces of Terry George.

terry george IS, sadly, the ultimate reason why the Leeds scene is as riddled with crap as it is...I think we should secretly hatch a plan to overthrow him and his Mincing Minions...like, have QC and Fibre owned as a community co-op...
Terry George...what a cúnt.

AND IT BEGINS MWAHAHAHAHA ON THE DAY OF THE 3RD OF JULY 2006 THE AOGBO's (Asociation of gay bar owners) WAS FORMED IN A BID TO BRING TO AN END THE HORROR THAT IS OVER PRICED DRINKS AND ENTRY TO THE GAY BARS AND CLUBS OF THE HAMLET OF LEEDS.
NO MORE WILL THE POOR DEFENSLESS QUEERS OF THE LEEDS SCENE BE SUBJECT TO THE WHIM OF THE DICTATOR TERRY AND HIS EVIL CLONE MARK
we really should start doing a regular curious or Gay night at the uni, this would leach all the young men from terry's clutches, leaving only the old dried up scene queens in mission on a thursday night, after a while if we got the night right, everyone would want to coem to the union to party instead of mission, which really is frankly ****.......my idea is like comunism, a nice idea but sadly will not happen
Am all for assassinating Terry George and claiming his empire, so it can be sold off n changed 4 the better.
Alternatively in the throwing him over thing, could have sum kinda alternative pride event... speak with terrance higgins or summat n reserect the picnic... 200quid aint 2 hard 2 fundraise 4

hhmmm i like it however it should include the whole LGBT com so hows about Dykey janes Big old queery night for Shims, lezzas, puftas and the undicided millions
We should definitely have our own pride type event. I do quite like the idea of just taking over lower briggate anyway hehe (the rebel within surfaces) but then we'd just get bad press. Picnics are cool.
What's with all the horrible names for things though? And why are they always centred around men??

i agree would like to point out york is having a lesbian pride event
whatever we do it should serously embrace every aspect of the gay community without being smutty in your face drunken drug fuled orgy I hate pride events that suggest that pride leading your 17 year old rent boy around on a doglead whilst dressed as barbara strisand wearing a ****ring im sure straights do it too but they keep their sex lives private.
why cant we just have a pride event that says HEY we have come along way to being equal with you please dont turn your back on us.
cos the leeds pride organisation board was made up of standard scene-queen clones & thrown together last minute. its all a bunch of bollocks & u wont find me there on sunday... thankfully am working.
