On 30 June is Apo’s 27th birthday, but … he is celebrating it on the following afternoon Sat 01/07/06 with a Garden Party at his place (or somewhere near there).
The exact venue: a green lawn on Chapeltown Road (next to no 317), just in front of St Martin’s Church LS7 3JT. Time: 3.00 pm onwards for the first refreshments, snacks and the birthday cake. Then, we can head up the road to the famous Shoulder of Mutton (Chapel Allerton) with its quiet beer garden. & after that there’s always the Mission or QC, or …
Dresscode: as you like it (nothing extravagant though, since there might be families around there at this time of the day). Last year, the party managed to attract quite a few "comments", but there were no Leeds Uni LGBT people there to keep the level of decency high enough...
What to bring: yourself and friends; it is only an informal gathering for Apo’s friends to share a few moments together before they indulge to pints and shots in the usual pubs and venues. Refreshments and snacks provided. The event is linked to the neighbourhood’s summer party where Apo is a co-organiser.
How to get there: 1) by bus from city centre: 2, 3, 22, 24 and any bus (apart from 36) leaving bus stop N2 opposite the Grand Theatre on New Briggate (that’s on the left of the Primark main entrance). Leave bus on St Martin’s Road stop and walk back 50 meters. 2) by taxi to St Martin's on 319 Chapeltown Road. 3) on foot: for the brave, only 30 mins walk from Parkinson steps (the same distance to go to the Lounge Cinema in Headingley). Call Apo (07766713956) for directions or use maps.google.co.uk and use LS7 3JT as destination.
NOTE: this not an LGBT event but a community party organised by a variety of people including people self-defining as LGBT, ethnic, religious etc. Everyone is welcome. Any LGBT people joining will carry on having fun elsewhere after the end of the garden party… of course.
