The Libertas Book festival (27th-28th October) is one of the main aspects of this well-established festival which incorporates the opportunity to hear over 50 new and established popular authors read from their work and answer questions. There are opportunities to join workshops to improve your performance poetry and creative writing.
This year also includes the opportunity to join in a mass reading group discussion of Jackie Kay’s ‘Wish I was Here’ which Jackie Kay will attend. The book festival is not (and never has been) a women-only event.
The audience is 99% female - lesbian, bi and straight - but men are welcome as guests of women (or by writing to the organisers before booking).

Thought you might like to know...it might be er, critically acclaimed!
Haha, such a novel principle, I knew I wasn't being overly trivial in emphasising that side of it.
Nice one Jess. Jackie Kay has been pimping herself around a bit lately (sorry, is that blasphemy??) but then again she's 70 and if one can without the aid of a stair lift then why the devil not?
Currently the ears of myself and a certain Hani are being wrenched open by a labouring man - not quite as exotic as it sounds, he is sawing something in half in the cluster beneath the Parky building. Maybe someone was eating or consuming beverages while on a computer. Curiouser and curiouser...
Oh and Dave, you'll have to find a woman to accompany you! (isn't that such a fantastic reversal of gentlemen's establishments like golf clubs??) But I'm sure you won't find that difficult of course.
