Australia, home to the Sydney Mardi Gras - one of the biggest LGBT Pride events in the world - has banned same-sex marriage through the senate with a majority vote of 38 to 7.
It follows the attempted ban on same-sex marriage by George Bush in the US who failed to win support - probably because it involved a change to the countries constitution.
So what does everyone think?

It's a great shame, but it's not particularly surprising when you see it from the politicians' point of view. Most of them simply think that marriage as an institution and a concept is between one man and one woman, and that to them is an argument rather than a potential conclusion. They never ask why.
