Should we ban anonymous postings by making the board a members only site?
In the past week anoymous posters have pretended to be me and to be Laurence, our former prez, in order to make stupid comments about the society and particular forum members.
In the past, people have also posted offending people with bitchiness and nasty comments. Thats why the Epic Poem, which started off great, had to be closed. I think its giving off the wrong impression of the society and other anon posters are making cheap jibes about the society being bitchy and obsessed with sex, which, I'm sure, al lot of people would contradict.
I need to know what you think though? Should we make the board members only to stop anonymous posters or keep it like it is?

I agree that anonymous posting should end, and the forum be made members only.
I wasn't personally offended by the postings before, but felt they were out of line, and it was obviously the intention of the author to offend people, and then wind me up.
I would have voted but I can't log in at the moment for some reason, that's why I've had to post anonymously, but I'm gonna get it sorted out.
the decision we've made is to carry on allowing anonymous postings. if the system is abused further, we will withdraw this possibility and all new posters will have to register.
it would be a great shame to have to do this, because if an established member wants some advice or support they can get it without revealing their identity. everyone knows that 'chipsandlube' is me, dave, for example.
see the forum rules on how to avoid abusing the forum. like i said, you're hindering us in fulfilling a lot of the aims of our society by forcing us to remove the anonymous feature. some members using the anonymous feature have already said how helpful it was to receive help from a number of members who use the board.
