I've just found out about a Queer creative writing competition run by Chroma Journal, which sounds quite amazing! And moneymoneymoney, with about £1500 up for grabs altogether for the winners.
Anybody interested in entering?
From what I can make of it there are 4 categories:
The Poetry prize. Does what it says on the tin, but in an ironic and elegant way... Prize given for the adjudged best queer poem.
The Short Story. Writing a queer related short story.
The Transfabulous Prize. For the best short story written by a trans individual or discussing trans issues.
The Velvet Magazine prize. For a short, short story of no more than 150 words on the themes of JOURNEY, SURPRISE & LUST, which has all the makings of some jungle monkey rape epic.
Deadline for entries is the 1st September 08, and you can download an entry form and get all the info at the website:
