The deadline for the submission of AGM business for discussion has now passed.
If there are any issues you want to discuss there will be time at the end, under 'Any Other Business'. Each item of business that is not on the agenda will be given one minutes worth of discussion time.
The deadline for the submission of manifestos for committee elections is:
tomorrow/FRIDAY at 5PM
Late manifestos will not be considered.
Once we have recieved your manifesto you will recieve an email in reciept of it. If you don't get a reciept, we might not have recieved your manifesto, so please check.
Thankyou.
John

why is it all so formal? i'm not entirely sure i see the point of having to submit manifestos and stuff. it's certainly not like that down at the climbing club.....

Because the LGBT is one of the biggest societies in the union and in terms of representation, I think the LGBT do a lot more than any recreation or sport society for members of the union. Therefore the committee has to be properly and formally elected.

besides, there are people who are willing to take swipes at us whenever they get bored or just want to stick a spanner in the works. if we do it all by the book, then jumped up irritants cannot harrass us as a committee just because they wish they had done as good a job as us this year. and if there's any doubt about whether or not we have, just ask the majority of our member body.

Prithee John, We have sent our manifesto for the running fo the position of Queen of the society to you personally. I was rather hoping to talk about the role of bears in the society at the AGM, providing I am available to attend, however I understand that this can only be considerd under any other business. Fear not though, I wil use my minute wisely. Good day to you gentle sire.
OK Everyone, the deadline for Mainfestos was 5pm so we can't accept anymore manifestos I'm afraid.
The Manifestos are being prepared to be published and will hopefully be on the website and here on the forum soon. The Mainfestos will also be available at coffee hour all week.
Thanks to everyone who got them in on time and good luck!
John K

well anonymous, if you are a society member, we would welcome your input: if not, we would welcome your input.
however, YOU have to understand that we DO get people taking swipes at us - ChipsAndLube was merely stating fact. besides, the AGM is going to be really chilled out, maybe going out afterwards! =)

here here. i think the society has a very relaxed atmosphere, and i would be very surprised if someone felt their suggestions would be ignored. what chipsandlube is saying (i think) is that it pays to avoid giving people such a public forum for their personal vendettas and stuff. i'm sure the comittee are willing to pay careful attention to members who feel agrieved for whatever reason. but the 'any other business' section of the agm is not necessarily the most appropriate time for such matters to be raised, if they do not concern the entire society. if an issue is important enough to be raised at the agm, the raiser can do so by putting it forward before the due date.
here's me going on about a committee i'm not even part of, talking about the workings of the society at a level i'm not privvy to. please excue me. also sorry if i've been pinning meanings to chipsandlube's words that he didn't intend.

Mr Lubes comments wernt offensive, in anyway, they wer jus stating that people do seem to like criticisin the society as a whole, this has been the case on the forum where people have posted anonymously taking swipes at members and the committee
