Unfortunately people continue to be persecuted internationally because of how they identify. The memorial hopes to honour the memory of all those who have died, while affirming people's resolve to report hate crime.
I'm going to the memorial in Manchester where a silence will be held, candles lit, and names of those who've died read.
I'm leaving from Leeds station at 13:45... we should get to Manchester a little early; at 15:10, we'll have a bit of time to waste before 15:45 when the memorial will begin in Sackville park.
The vigil will take place for approximately one hour, and will be followed by an informal gathering at Taurus on Canal Street.
Afterwards there are trains running back to Leeds into the night.
In the morning 'll be at the ALT. Sunday event if anyone wants to head off with me from there, or meet in the station at 13:30, then I'll be available.
