February is LGBT History Month and Leeds LGBT will be marking the occasion in style. Throughout the month we'll be running socials, events, debates and giving coffee hour a little extra shine. Film Screening- Queer Fear I and II: The Sexual Cleansing of Iraq and Homecoming, 17.30 Thursday 5th February, Speakman Lecture Theatre Textiles and Design
Join the School of Art as they show both Queer Fear I and II: The Sexual Cleansing of Iraq and Homecoming. The films aim to show a rarely seen side of sexuality and its treatment in less tolerant societies. The showing will be accompanied by a talk from its director and a collection which will go towards the plight of LGBT individuals in Iraq. For more information click here
LGBT Display, Thursday 5th February, Parkinson Court
To mark the start of LGBT History Month the society will be putting on a display in Parkinson Court throughout the day, displaying queer creativity, a discussion of lgbt related issues and publicising the aims of the society. Come along and show your support!
AGENDA: LGBT and Religion, 17.30 Monday 9th February, Manmade Fibres LT 2
Building on the success of the debate last year, the society will again open up the forum to discuss the relation between faith and sexuality. We will have guest speakers Pav Akhtar and Dr Ron Knott, the Chair of the Muslim LGBTQ group Imann and the Northern Rep for the Evangelical Fellowship of LGB Christians, bringing their ideas and discussing the often passionate relationship bteween religion and sexuality.
Tongues United and other short films, 1300 Tuesday 10th February, School of Art foyer
We will be showing a collection of short films that each highlight an everyday issue that the LGBT Community faces.
Join us as we welcome the Terrence Higgins Trust as they lead a workshop dealing with the human side of living with HIV. This promises to be an interesting and eye opening experience tackling an issue still strong in the hearts of the LGBT community.

We will be joining Film Soc as they host a festival of LGBT relkated films throughout the day. Pop in and watch some of the best queer films around.

Love Music Hate Homophobia, 1900 till Late Wednesday 25th February, Mine and Pulse
To round off LGBT History Month with a bang, there will be a night like no other at the Union. In Mine there will be a band night featuring Jacob's Stories, White Boys for Gay Jesus and Izzie Voodoo. In Pulse, the amazing spectacular of Smash the Closet will be in full force with the djs of Violator and SuckMyLeftOne fame taking control. Dance your heart away.
