Meet Your New Committee! (09/10)

Well, let's get the ball rolling with me!

Hey everyone, I'm Roy, and I am the society's new Chair. I'm reading for a degree in English & Philosophy, and most of the time you will find me in coffee hours grumbling about having ridiculous amounts of reading to do. Reading, on an English course. Who knew?

I'm probably the worst Buddhist you will ever meet, but I know my shizz, so if you ever fancy a nice theological debate, I'm your man. Oh? You don't? Ok then....I'll just make you some tea...

I can normally also be found once a week, wandering the smoking area of Mission, desperately looking for the people I lost 2 minutes previously, so if you see me please say hello, wave or just do that eyebrow raising thing that means you know who I am.

Every week I find something new on Youtube that I obsess about and routinely show anyone visiting my house. This week, it is this, so enjoy:

Ahoy hoy. I'm Jo and I'm your new bi officer. I'm a 1st year undergraduate studying Biological Sciences, aiming to specialise genetics in September. I was born and raised on the mean streets of Hounslow, but was displaced to some tiny village which was once besieged by gypsies (no, really) in rural Berkshire during my teenage years.

If I'm not shivering/sweltering in Roger Stevens or making a mess in the Garstang teaching labs, I can be found chillaxing at coffee hour. I enjoy listening to obscure indie music, baking cakes or cookies and dancing maniacally in Mission. I also still play Pokemon, so if you fancy a battle or trade just drop me a message. I don't bite, unless of course you want me to.

I am currently obsessed with this song:

Hello there fellow LGBTers. Hope you're all well.

I'm Andy, the mens welfare officer for the University of Leeds' LGBT society. I am just coming to the end of my first year here at Leeds, studying BA French, with Thai as my electives (worst choice of my life, but let's not go there...)

In my spare time I enjoy going out and taking advantage of QC on a thursday (number night, woooo), cycling, a bit of photography, and being completely obsessed with public transport... ask me anything, I'll probably know the answer. I also love europop, take eurovision far too seriously, and collect american licence plates. hell yeah.

As men's officer, I will be making copious amounts of tea for you all during coffee hour, and ensuring the health wealth and happiness of the male society members. If you have any problems you wish to discuss, need advice, or just someone to talk to/at, dont hesitate to contact me through facebook (andrew bailey), or e-mail me (ml08agb@leeds.ac.uk)

I also have events planned for the year, but news of those nearer the time...

to finish on a high note, I will leave you with this:

Word up, kids.

I'm Tim, your friendly neighbourhood Trans officer. I'm in my second year of my Politics degree, and am a regular at coffee hours, storming through the Guardian quick crossword.

My favourite activities include writing, drawing, consuming large quantities of biscuits, grumbling about the state of the world, and accumulating pointless items of knowledge. My specialist subjects are comic books and world war two; for your own safety, try not to get me started.

And since everybody's leaving Youtube videos, I'm going to mix it up in a Soviet styley:

So now let's introduce the first ever Equality and Diversity Officer of the LGBT society and the whole union.

I am Pieter.

I grew up in the netherlands - Oss (look here, it's where Oss is in the Netherlands) and did my undergraduate and masters at Utrecht University. I like to correct people when they ask me where I am from in Holland, because Holland is not a country, it's a part of the Netherlands :P and I know many people say Holland when they mean the Netherlands (explained here), but many people also say England when they mean the UK. I am now a second year PhD student at the University of Leeds. My degree is in Geochemistry, but I won't bore you with any details ;)...

Hobbies are mainly going out and theatre, but I also like to play capoeira (although Leeds is not the best place to do this).

So as an equality and diversity officer, I'll be looking into everything that might occur during activities and at university in general regarding equality and diversity. I'll make sure that I stand my point and represent yours if you feel neglected.
I don't treat people different because they are from a different country, have a disability or a different view on life (religious and non-religious). I hope to be present at as many coffee hours as possible and be there for everyone.

xx

And here's my vid:

Greetings! My name is Alan and for the duration of this voyage I will be acting as your events officer, the exits are located here, here and... (Wait, ignore that last bit)!

Im currently battling my way through a Mphys in Physics with Astrophysics which I enjoy thoroughly when Im in the lectures (which if you look at my coffee hour attendance would appear to be a very small portion of the time).

Im quite fond of nights out as most people know and Im generally always at mission. Im quite forgetful so if its my coffee hour and you want a drink I will ask you several times what you wanted and probably still get it wrong.

The most common word people use to describe me is 'vacant'...

And on that note, Peace out!

Hey!!!!!
soooooo....i'm Sam, i am studying maths and am currently in my second year. Yes i know what u may be thinking...GEEK. Well i would like to think i'm not but i did start a chess club in primary school, so think what u may! :P
i am one of ur secretaries along with Claire Stephens and you probably will have seen us both in mission or qc as we are out most nights! Generally in Mission i spend my time falling onto the stage and gettin millions of bruises from falling over slash being pushed over....*cough alex cough*. i enjoy to dance stupidly and often have very serious expressions on my face as i really get into the songs as i dance!
clumsy seems to be what i do best and i have been labelled with the nickname "drunken ball" after slipping on a bench, falling off a curb and spraining my ankle, tryin to jump over a metal fence and gettin my leg caught...etc etc.
so yeah i hope that i will make good enough teas and coffees...altho i slightly hate the smell of coffee :P am excited to be involved in LGBT events and such things and would like to thank people for voting us in :)
me and Claire are currently working on our Britney dancing and hope to impress all the newbies in September with it haha! so as we are obsessed with Britney..ok Claire is obsessed with britney, i thought it was only fair to add a britney video to this post, however i have also added girls alouds new video as i think its amazing! :)

Hello there children
The names Alex, although may hear me called Bisby or Alan (involves a very uninteresting story from freshers week involving a facebook attackage)
Im just coming to the end of my first year studying medical sciences..Yes a geeky subject I on the other hand need to work on being more of a geek next year i'm not too good at it.
Oh yeah and im the new womens welfare officer for the University of Leeds' LGBT society.
Exciting stuff eh? : )
Im usually found in coffee hour if I have no cramming for an exam to do. This year you have the pleasure of me attempting to make you tea...I say attempting I apparently have a habit of making it too milky or something, I dont know I dont like the stuff. I am however a LOVER of coffee...especially if it has a drop of brandy in it.
On a night out I can usually be found doing some crazy.....and yes I mean people stand back and avoid us crazy. Singing and dancing in QC and mission. If not look on the floor I may have been pushed/collapsed into a heap. This is never my fault. Usually the fault of Sam or steve no matter what they say.
Feel free to add my on facebook Alex Bisby; I have a tendency to waste my life on there.
