Hi, the 3Rs is new to me. Could you tell me what is planned to do in the meeting, please? You see, it was said: Student Involement Dates: Venue: Peanut Gallery (Leeds University Union) All sessions are 2pm till 4pm
Thursday 30th April - Sexual Orientation
I want to book a place, but I just want to go and listen to the other's speaking, is it OK? and I am afraid to be recognized by my friends, you see, those who haven't know my sexual orientation. So what should I do, I just want to see and listen, don't I? Thanks!
The 3Rs stand for Right, Representation and Respect.
The sessions will be for the university to be informed how students and staff think about what can be improved on the policy involving for example sexual orientation. They can't do anything if you just want to listen to the people from the university and the ones with ideas. If that gives you more confident I would definately advice you to go. I am going as well and I don't know yet exactly what is done at the university to ensure equality for the LGBT society. Before the meeting I am definately going to read more into the particular policy of the university as far as I don't know it yet.
I wouldn't worry too much about being recognized by people that are not aware of your sexual orientation at that particular meeting. If friends come to that meeting, they most probably are LGBT as well, or open to it. But this might be my naivity for that point. I know that it is quite hard to come to that kind of meetings if your not completely out of the closet, but I hope to see you there. If you have any questions or anything else to ask, just ask!
