i can't believe so many people are watching a chimney pot. have they not better things to do? jobs to work? homes to clean? and haven't all those nuns got good to do? or demons to drive out?
sheesh.

my favorite bit was when no-one could tell if the smoke was black or white this morning. you'd've thought they'd've moved on from smoke signals by now.
by the way, are double contractions allowed? (you'd've/they'd've)

the new one is the son of a bavarian police man. and isn't too hot on us gayers, by all accounts. they even interviewed some smack-head in liverpool about it on ITV1 news. the world is a little stupid today. and people were off work so i had to do everything :(

Apparently he was 'forced' to join the Hitler youth movement. Hm.
He also thinks homosexuality is an 'intrinsic moral evil', dislikes communism, and has conservative views on contraception, abortion, divorce, female priests and multiculturalism. Wonderful.
don't underestimate the power of brainwashing. some of those "children" traded their own parents to the gestapo.
yes, it is true that he may not harbour any nazi sympathies. but regardless, it would still take me a long time to trust anybody who was associated with such evil. one look at a concentration camp is it all it takes to convince me of that.
but then maybe that's why he's the ideal pope, a representation per se, of the sinner striving for redemption?

i really don't know why i'm defending him, but hey.
i honestly don't think his having been part of the hitler youth is any grounds for distrust. as far as i know, he had no choice, and even if he did, it was seen very much as an equivalent of the cub scouts, even if it was used as a brainwashing tool (though i don't like the term 'brainwashing). imagine if it was revealed that baden powell set up the scouts in order to convince children to eat babies. there's no way any rational person would hold it against the kids who had been sent unknowingly along to the scout meetings.

Having been almost an admirer of JPII, for some aspects of his character, I was amused to watch a programme on Ch4 earlier. It showed the crowds in St. Peter's square all eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new pope. When the white smoke appeared, some nun who has ceaselessly campaigned for women' ordination in the Church, immediately stated: "The vote was too quick. That mean's it's Ratzinger". I think she was on the verge of tears. As was I a few days ago.

my mum asked me what i thought of the new pope, and i said i couldn't care less, but then realised that wasn't true, as he's anti-divorce, anti-contraception, anti-abortion and anti-homosexuality. basically, i hope this benedict guy burns in hell with JPII.
yes cos you shouldn't wish that kinda thing on anybody, but no on the other hand, because they should go to the hell that they devised to scare everybody else ****less, and for scaring normal people into not using condoms and putting themselves at risk of HIV transmission.
burn baby burn.
