we are currently having some bouncer problems at the phono. The bouncer is employed by the club rather than us and has been i.d.ing people like there's no tomorrow at razz, pussywhipped and strangeways. He has also reportedly been turning people away on account of it being a 'gay only night'. However we would like to make it clear that as far as we're concerned everyone is welcome at razz regardless of sexuality, etc.
Anyway, we can't stop him i.d.ing people so can you PLEASE BRING I.D. IF POSSIBLE (even if you're blatantly 30 or whatever). We will try and keep an eye on the bouncer as much as possible but please let us know if he tries to turn people away on account of some 'it's (exclusively) a gay night' bollocks so we can challenge him on this.

LURVE, HELL RAZZ

Obviously! I've been away from Leeds for the last two... pretty sure Adam and John will be there too, knowing their love for tacky cover versions. :)

Come to Razz, freshers! It's friendly, plays better music than Mission, and the drinks are cheap.

i think i'll join you at this, alice.

i do like mission, but i don't want it to become stale like it did last year.

plus phono is closer to home than mission.

Copy, Right?

The best blog of MP3 cover versions EVER. They even had a Magnetic Fields special.

You'll love it! The place is dark and dingy but drinks are cheap and people are just so friendly! Not to say it's a night made by wonderful friends of ours just for ourselves.

What about Elbow's version of Independed Woman (is that right). I thought that was goood :) lol.

The Scissor Sisters did quite a good version of 'Take Me Out' too.

And isn't 'It's Oh So Quiet' from a musical?!

Wow! Night sounds cool - Can't wait....I've never been. Has anyone heard of Within Temptation. They are a Dutch band and they did an amazing cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" - seriously look it up

I liked the placebo version of that song actually.

I know some people are being cheesy and tacky and are going to Mission (don't you get bored, guys?!) but I'm sticking to Razzmatazz. The music is different (as opposed to the same pre-fabricated music we hear every single Thursday night in Mission), the atmosphere is friendlier and getting home is easier (when buses aren't totally packed).

See you there! Or not!

Don't worry about it and take care of yourself. You deserve the exhaustion, though, for giving me so many 5 pp coins.

Awww...i'd make you some warm milk and honey but i would have to steal the honey from my flatmate. that wouldn't be good right now though becasue she has actually just gone to the hospital because she ain't too good either. i'm kinda worried no...wait!! she just walked through the door...still not good but she ain't gonna die so that's alright.

so that was you was it? i'm sorry about that. i guess you will know next time not to try buying things just before closing when there is no change in the till if you do i will give it all in 1pences i'm only kidding. i wouldn't do that.

[EDIT] as you can tell my flatmate didn't go to the hospital and back in 1 second flat. i just started writing the post but then went to talk with another flatmate because we were worried lol.

Aw bless ya!!!
I've spent most of my night round my friend's flat, pretending to be hammered but actually spent most of the night coughing like some animal who's lost its lungs. Kinda glad I didn't go to razz now cos drink and cig smoke was just making me feel even worse than I was before. I know how you're feeling except sleep may help a little.

*pats Paul's shoulder* Get well soon!

Yeah, Finkbee, that was me! Didn't say anything because I didn't want to either scare you or bewilder you.

You missed a good night, guys! Of course, it was less busy than usual because Mission is ever powerful, but we were a nice bunch of people, and some of the covers were priceless!!! A cover of the bedtime song from The Sound of Music.... hilarious! And a cover of Sk8ter boy in which the leading vocals were sung by a machine!! (?!?!?!?!) What ever happened to Build Me Up Buttercup, though? They started playing it but it was stopped suddenly. They probably saw me dancing to it, that's why. Ahhh, Poptastic at the Cockpit memories....... Sorry, guys, you're all probably too young to remember.

So, yeah, and now another day of reading to death. Yippeeeee!

On a cover-versions note, I have just heard Kate Bush's version of Sexual Healing and it is mad. And not horny at all.

If anyone wants to hear, msn me :)

IT's good! I bought the ("limited edition 7" picture disc"... which was cheaper than the CD version) of 'King of the Mountain today as a mini-treat for my first paypacket and it's on that, and I really like it. So nya!

You probably like it though. I agree it isn't sexy.

*the picture disc just looks like a regular (albeit yellowish) record that someone's attacked with a crayon...
