in no way am i condoning any act of violence or discrimination against anyone. it is absolutely appalling.
the article doesn't give details, and maybe there are clues to it being a homophobic attack, but how do the police know. just because a victim belongs to a minority group doesn't make that the motive for the attack. when a victim is of an ethnic minority people always assume that that is the motive, but it might not neccessarily be the case, just like a homosexual victim might not have been targeted for being gay.
unfortunately, the world is full of narrow minded twats, and such attacks do take place.
i once witnessed a homophobic attack in my home town, and i had words with the attacker who then started on me (not being out at the time) for having an open minded attitude.
the world sucks. fortunately, there are people in the world who are more accepting of peoples differences and these are the people who need to work on bringing about tolerance and understanding.
