I´m here in Germany, and there´s been significatn media coverage about the fcat that it´s World AIDS Day...
...yet I am the only one it seems, in the entire comapny, who is wearing an AIDS ribbon, and I can tell you I´m getting a lot of VERY odd looks for it.
Is anyone else wearing an AIDS ribbon today? Or is it like it seems to be here in Germany - that nobody cares?

Come to the Union tonight! There's a night devoted to World's AIDS Day!! I'll be singing in the Carol Concert (organised by the Christian Union. How ironic!) but I think I'll be going to this night at least for a drink. It's worth giving my money even if I only stay for one.

Forgot to say... Africa is dying of AIDS and so many people think the only problem with African countries is underdevelopment (I don't like that word), hunger and civil wars.

Indeed, as John and Alberto said, people infected with HIV are dying around the world as we speak.
The HIV pandemic, and the AIDS that in many cases is the inevitable result of HIV, is perhaps the worst pandemic that our species has ever known. Yet, in spite of this, our governments still care more abouot fighting foreign wars that do not necessarily need to be fought, causing panic over flu and SARS and MRSA, when the real epidemic, the real killer of global proportions, is already here, and it seems, here to stay.
So what can we do?
Donate. Buy a ribbon. Do whatever you feel you can to contribute to the awareness of HIV and AIDS. Get people to think about it. Make people aware that "but i´m on the pill" or "but she´s on the pill" is no longer a guarantee for safe sex - you would be shocked at how many of the women i know say this, and to be honest, it´s a disgrace that this is still how people think.
Make people realise that a condom could save their life, and the lives of others.
