I went to see Grease tonight - and it was fantastic. The whole show was great (especially the tight jeans worn by the T-birds). Now I know that some of you guys were there - cause I saw you. The question is, what did you think. Did you love it - like me, or did you think it was poo?
I'd love to know what you thought, and who you wouldn't throw out of bed!

Laura Tebutt, who played Rizzo, didn't outshine Stockard Channing with her acting (Stockard is Stockard, after all), but her singing was amazing, and gave The Worsts Things I Could Do a poignancy and such a high degree of feeling that made it heart-rending.
The guy who played Danny is no good at ballads, but can rock and roll a tune amazingly well. Very hot for someone that short, too.
The girl who played Sandy was average acting-wise for my taste, but her voice was angelic. It had an Olivia Newton-John ring to it which is very hard to achieve.
At first I thought Frenchy was gonna get on my nerves, but she turned out to be very funny, and genuinely comic!
Anyway, I could talk about the production forever. I really thought it was top-notch. The acting was superb for a student musical production, probably the best I've seen in a student musical. Grease, to be honest, isn't the smartest or most intelligent show around, but the cast, thanks to their talents and to the great job of the directors, got the most out of it, and achieved a high degree of sophistication for such a 'cheesy' show.
If I've got a qualm about the show as a whole, is the lack of an exciting finale. I think the brilliant choreography of We Go Together that ended the first act would have been more showy at the end of the second act. Plus Grease is the Word wasn't amazingly staged, although wonderfully performed.
Oh, forgot to say the show was beautifully sung, as well. And the regulars sang as nicely as ever, but with top self-confidence and prowess.
