Yeah. Plus the reason Curious has worked in the past in terms of money is because the LGBT committee have either DJ'd themselves or got someone they know to do it for free (mister pete). I am sure that the LGBT can easily afford the hire of the venue with the amount that is in the pot - infact, if some of it isn't spent, then it just goes down the union loo don't it?!
Can't you just do Curious after the exam period if it's the timing that is an issue?

The date me and Adam booked was the last available date (apart from Thursdays). I still you'd easily get people there, it's only the third day of exam week.

during the semester one exams i went out to mission even though i had two exams the following day. i ended up doing really well in them too. although i can understand why some people would be against going to curious if they had exams the following day it could be a good de-stress for some people too.
yea well id probs go if didnt have an exam in next couple of days, bt thinkk id prefer to enjoy it when not worried that i ned to get up the followin day etc i dno, probs few ppl would turn up on another note, gf liked it, so thats a plus
It is sad to cancel a very much anticipated event. It is sad mostly for people who worked hard for it. Planning well ahead is important for such big events. The last Curious was successful thanks to good organisation skills and teamwork. I loved the last Curious just because it managed to attract very goog people and appeal even to non-LGBT students.
It is a double challenge for the new committee to raise to the standards of the leaving ones. First, they have only recently assumed their responsibilities; and time is short until the initially planned date. Second, their work is very likely to be compared to the work of the old committee; and Curious is a ground were mistakes are not allowed. Consider that the organisers of the proposed Curious will have to balance their own exam schedule with the organisation issues.
I suspect they are the people who will be affected the most from the choice of date. This must have been the main reason for the cancellation.
However, I disagree with the cancellation as such. I would discuss a change of date, if possible. Maybe venue availabilities have changed now.
Sorry for the sad news. I do trust the efforts of the new committee; I hope they will not let us down. We definitely need a big LGBT event for the last term. YES.
I agree with Apo there. Besides, it's an event planned by the previous committee, not the current committee, and if they feel they couldn't be up to it, then it's their choice, after all, to go on with it or cancel it.
Rich and John, I know why you're sad about Curious not happening. It's your baby, after all, but it's somebody else who is taking care of it now, I'm afraid.
I've voted "maybe", despite my "pessimism".

I think to say the committee arnt upto the challenge is a little (actually its alot) far from the truth.
The issue is generally the timing, its the only date we can do really and it falls in the exam period, and people do go on shut down over exams.....Curious is not dead it will be back, the question is really when! And there is the end of year formal to look forward too which will actually be AMAZING!
hi just thought that i would give my view here. it was decided that the provisional date of curious was at a time when not only is everyone else doing exams but also the committee have exams too. i know that this has put one or two people out as i have read in this thread but i think that what we have planned as the leaving do/ summer ball will more than make up for the lack of curious this year.
i believe that the we will be able to do curious the justice that it deserves at the beginning of the new academic year where we can put on an extravaganza not only for all of you lovely people coming back next year but for all the newbies that we expect to arrive with the incoming tide of fresh faced students.

It's sad that Curious isn't going ahead but I think it's perhaps the right decision. It was in exams and it's not fair to expect the new committee to organise it when they have exams too.
I'm sure the end of year party will make up for it! Can't wait.
