Wasn't going to see this film completely due to the trailer. It reminded me of HULK an amazingly s**t film.
All I can say is thank God for Orange Wednesdays.
Went to see it with a friend and was blown away, thoug I don't think it will be on my best ever list it is a good film. Yes there are lots of explosions (YAY fireworks) but it has adeeply involving plot as well. Its predictable in places but really does make you think.
Gaywired.com described it as "The best gay film in theatres right now you didn’t even know was gay" and I believe that sums it up.
Excellent idea badly executed. There were lots of great visual moments, and oftentime the cinematogrpahy was great. However it was laced with plot holes, inconsitency and a rather strange inserts. The whole reason for the Vendetta became less clear as the film went on.
It was also a film that didn't seem to fit in a 'genre' even though it was trying pretty hard to do so.
If you have seen the film version of 1984 you'll recognise many of the films features and sadly it pales in comparison to the adaptation of the George Orwell novel. I'd recommend that if you want to see a political-thriller.
Plus there is plenty of overacting. If you have seen Sin City, you might draw comparisons too. (Both these were adapted from graphic-novels). However, the over acting works in Sin City because of the way that it was shot. This is filmed without the cartoon styling and it just looks false and melodramatic.

It was really good... until (warning: you're now entering spoiler zone) it Evie got kidnapped by V and then she went on about how rain has god (pukes). That completely lost me.
The other problem I have is action scene. There are only three in the flim (!?). Now I like good drama, but if they were going to have V as a knife-wielding terrorist, I think they should have used it more. The last action scene was laughable.
Attention Anonymous quick question didnt we meet once befor i seem to remember the puke comments about most things. is someone a little bit bitter........ xxxchrisxxx
I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Heard really gr8 things about it and yes i think its meant to be a mix between 1984 and sin city

Adam wrote:It did seem like a watered down version of 1984, but then I didnt think 1984 was fun at all, so its probably just as well.
I don't think 1984 was intended to be a happy clappy kind of book but this film did seem a very jokey way of portraying it. I thought it was good anyway and makes a change having a comic book character set in the UK as opposed to America yet again...

Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but you're a total bitch.
Well... I did hear the best bits were the ones that were most faithful to the graphic novel, but that on the whole it was a piece of mindless ****e, which is pretty much what I'd expect from those worthless Warchowski (sp) motherfúckers.
The film version of 1984 is set in Oceania (which is basically Europe) and is much better. It isn't really a cross between 1984 and Sin City though Hani, though there are obvious comparisions to be made. This film just does them very poorly.

I saw V for Vendetta the other day. i thought it was a great film. It showed the power of the people and shoved a bit of Gay rights in as the cherry on the cake.
It was anti-Bush, anti-Conservative and pro-Democracy. My type of film!
