i wrote a post the other day on a thread about queer bash.... it wsa jus a brief one about how you came up with the name? i'm personally not offeneded by it jus wondered wt the decision makin was for it... an wts gna b goin on there?! think i may be home by then so may not b able to go! more bothered about where some of my posts have gone...theyve disappeared off the face of this forum! laura xx

im a bit confused by it all. i mean i understand the meaning of it an have no problem bt feel like it could give ignorant ppl a license to use the term queer as derogatory and offensive. im not suggestin it should b somethin else or anythinas i say i have no problem with the name! im sure itll b a great night. jus wondered wt others thought. lauraxx
nah John, you are spot on. Queer is always gonna be kinda controvertial because it implies an abnormality which in itself connotes negativity etc... but the double entendre of bash is just too much for the easily offended We should just call it something that everyone can identify with really. I reckon if we called the night "Jim" then everyone would be happy!

i dont need to liven up thanx...i think the night will b great, i personally dont have a problem with the name as not being ignorant i understand it, bt as we probably all have found in the past some ppl are ignorant of the fact that the word quer is not something they can jus scream across to insult...

think for a second...the wording is "Summer Queer Bash"...it sounds like a bloody hunting party for those rabid homophobes who haven´t managed to kill a queer in their area yet.
it´s just common sense. it doesn´t matter whether it´s offensive to this person or that person, it´s what it MEANS, and where i´m from in the north, "queer bash" means "i´m going to throw glass bottles and bricks at your face until you bleed to death, because you´re gay".

lol, i know what u mean...however nice the Dales might LOOK, the people can quite frankly, be very evil. I go home and get rocks and bottles thrown at me, though not as much as in the past.
Whoever decided to first put the word "queer" next to the word "bash" deserves to have their liver pecked out by a mack off eagle in the Underworld for all eternity, just like Prometheus...

well blackburn doesnt even look pretty like the dales, an the people, are generallly jumped up chavs with 7 kids who wouldnt know wt queer meant if u gave them a dictionary, even tho poss half of them are..
