Rules... nobody likes them but they are there for a reason. We only have 5 of them here, but if you stick to them then things should run smoothly and everyone will be happy:
1) You must not pretend to be someone you are not. Signing off messages with someone elses name is an abuse of the forum. - BROKEN!
2)Personal attacks on anyone, whether known to you in person or not, are unacceptable. - BROKEN!
3)If someone takes personal offence at something you post, please try to justify your message in a subsequent post. Afterwards, do not enter into a public argument or descend into insults or personal attacks. - BROKEN!
4)Light-hearted banter and in-jokes between friends are perfectly acceptable. If these do not concern you, please do not jump to the conclusion that somebody is seeking to cause offence. - BROKEN!
5)Respect other peoples right to an opinion. If it differs from yours, it is not necessarily wrong. Again, if you think someone is setting out to cause offence, do not retaliate; report it to Forum Admin using our email address: luu.lgbt@leeds.ac.uk - BROKEN!
at least three of these rules are being broken on this forum on a weekly basis.
oh dear. seems like some people are being veeeeeeeeeeery naughty...

Not wanting to detract from the point you are making, but as far as I'm aware Rule 1 hasn't been broken since someone pretended to be the old president Lawrence a looooong time ago.

Ahhh the fun u can have with 70p! Is that cos they r pretty much circles with rounded bits cut off???
Thanks for that post Sash. I know it's been a bugger recently & its fairly easy to cross the fine line between acting within the rules and breaking them.
2)Personal attacks on anyone, whether known to you in person or not, are unacceptable. - BROKEN!
Sorry, I'll fully hold my hands up & admit to personally attacking the anon poster in the conference thread, but following the abuse & personal attacks I were recieving for trying to sort something out, it's easy to see why I'd stop been polite about it.
3)If someone takes personal offence at something you post, please try to justify your message in a subsequent post. Afterwards, do not enter into a public argument or descend into insults or personal attacks. - BROKEN!
As far as I'm aware, I've not argued or caused offence in any recent posts, I've been debating and making points about an issue and have followed my posts with justifications unlike other posts on the thread.
5)Respect other peoples right to an opinion. If it differs from yours, it is not necessarily wrong. Again, if you think someone is setting out to cause offence, do not retaliate; report it to Forum Admin using our email address: luu.lgbt@leeds.ac.uk - BROKEN!
I've never said anyone was wrong in the conference thread and have respected views and comments posted there. However I'm not an angel and will quite happily hold my hand up and admit that I shouldn't have retaliated to the anon post.
Overall, I'm sorry for the last few days on the conference thread and breaking 2 of the forum rules where the anon poster was concerned. Apologies for those of you who took offence about anything posted, this wasn't intended. Even tho I'm apologising for my bad forum conduct, I'm not retracting my views and or comments as they are what I believe and will stand by and fight for, similarly I won't just sit there and take abuse without exercising my right to defend myself, and as for anon posters making bitchy swipes, I stand by the fact that anon posting for this purpose shouldn't be tolerated or accepted.
But yeah I'm sorry. Many apologies.

Nic, hun, you donīt have to explain yourself to me!
iīm just really bored, astounded, and disappointed - all at the same time - with the way the forumīs going. It takes soooooo little to be civil to one another, and to be mature, but hey - Iīm not Jesus handing out morals!
For me, itīs just that the one and only thing that is actually keeping me wanting to go back zo england for ANYTHING at the moment, is the LGBT, lol! Family is ****ed up, I donīt want to be a student for another year, and thatīs basically it, lol.
Richard...are you sure?? I though 20p and 50p were funny shaped, so how could they have the same diameter all the way round??

They're called Reuleaux Polygons. They're basically regular polygons with an odd number of sides, but their sides are arcs with the midpoint at the opposite corner instead of straight lines. It's really bizarre, but 100% true!
I swear revision shouldn't be this interesting!

Thought it'd b a good idea to apologise to and explain myself to all. It's only decent thing to do really.

OOOPSIE my bad sowi splash didnt mean tooo
incidently this n0b that keeps posting as anon is getting up my jaxi plus heres a rule there is a polotics section thats where polotics stay and all those wishing to partake of mud slinging in the vicious roumers section should really list there names so it dosnt spill into the public domain
long live da gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyysssssssss
So, do you NEVER talk about polItics in general conversation then? Do you want this forum reserved for "Guess Who I Fancy" and "omfg i so ****n luv kitkats" alone?
i probably pissed off a fair few people by starting this thread, but basically what iīm getting at, is that people ought to learn to be nicer to each other here, especially when you think that people log on to the forum before coming to leeds uni, like i did...

Fair enough, I guess.
oooh I do love kitkats! It's alright talking politics and whatnot just as long as it doesnt get heated and end up a slagging match! This isn't the Queen Vic in Eastenders! "You ain't my muvver!" "Yes I am!"... I think Im losing it...
Anyway, I think you did a good job Sasha raising the point so I commend you sir!

i think some people here will only be happy if they go live in a cave and cut off all contact with society. then there's no chance for you to be offended.

What's a 'polotic'? A cross between a polo and a tic tic, or some sort of vicious cold-environment-dwelling creature.
Personally I'd rather live in a cave than immerse myself into more arguing of this nature, Steve. Although maybe I'd go insane in my solitude and develop a split personality who spent their entire time offending me. Sigh. Life is hard.
