Bakewells an alright place :o) I think we should do sum traditional things like playing mob football in Ashbourne (once a year, the whole town plays footy thru the town, its amazing)
or even better an LGBT trip to a cheese rolling competition! Know where sum1 rolls a massive wheel of cheese down a dead steep hill & several hundred suicidal cheese lovers run after it, winner is the person who catches it n they get 2 keep it, sooooooooooooooo much fun!

Could have some sort of intro event like a games night in one of the unions meeting rooms, with non-alcoholic ****tails, split everyone up in2 teams so they aint bunched up wi their mates but have a good mixed of freshers n oldies... for each game change the teams so everyone gets to meet everyone else.
Games could be summat daft like bog standard party games, charades n round it all off by running sum sorta big LGBT quiz at the end wi a prize for the winning team... that way u can also get abit of mens n womens officer stuff in2 the event by includin a section on sexual health in the quiz, another bit bout famous gayers... jus an idea like

Active things sound ace, so paintballing is a must! And Golden Acre Park is really cool. Meanwood Park's alright, and the trail sounds like a nice idea. But there were two stupid little kids who shouted "hot lesbian action" at me and my ex (just for holding hands I might add!) on our way from Meanwood Park once. Why are kids getting worse and worse these days???

comments like that happen wenever where ever! whilist waiting for a ride my gf gave me a pek on the cheek! and a boy turned round and went can you not do that in public please ! but only cause his friends dared him! If theres a group of us no one will even bother becasue its more trouble than good. The boy at the weekend sure did when we answered him back with just 'Do what in public?' he just stuttered and looked embaressed he'd said anything! x

i think i'd need alcoholic ****tails before i played those games.

Basically it costs a fair bit 2 rent out one of the unions bars, whereas meetin rooms are free. However alcoholic events arent permitted in the union meeting rooms as the rooms are used by i-soc and other religious groups and people who's beliefs prevent them from drinking, as union rooms are 'safe spaces' for all members & groups, their needs/beliefs have to be taken into account and catered for.
Plus ya dont need booze 2 loosen up, just relax n have abit of fun

Do ppl still wana do meals? - Yeah I do, its always good 2 have food n socialise at same time
If so where do you fancy going ? - Casa Mia is great but pricey, erm grab an itchy guide its full of info reviews n ideas of good places to go n eat out.
How about lunches as opposed to dinner? - could work well yeah but trust me tryin 2 get lunch booked at places in town is a nightmare cos all the suits descend on places from 12-2
How often do you think you can fford them? - monthly seems to work well
Bowling ? Do you think is fun ? Would like it made more competative? - Love it, they give me champpers 4 been a ****! Competativeness would be good, but if u do that throw in sum more silliness 4 those who r crap at bowling n lose interest quickly
How about single sex events ? Wher would you like to go ? - Yeah. Womens Sauna Night at the basement complex....
Possibilty of holiday ? suggestions of where and when would suit you ? - Brighton! Anytime that it aint school holidays

Wind down was basically, every fornight on a friday we'd meet up in the Old Bar n spend all night drinking & talkin jibberish!
Reason we scrapped wind-down was cos you'd turn up to start it n be sat on ya tod 4 ages cos no1 ever really turned up at the start, then only a couple of people would turn up cos it wasn't a really popular event. It was fairly damn annoying and a pointless waste of time.
It's good for the first few weeks of the year so freshers can get to know everyone and visa-versa, but by mid first-term it starts 2 drop off n less n less people attend, by the end of term ur literally sat there just twiddling ur thumbs & its like that for the rest of the year.
(Ex events officer - the one who scrapped it)
