'A mockingbird never hurt no-one, all it does is sing its song for everyone to hear, that's why its a sin to kill a mockingbird' - Gist of the actual quote....
Hey guys, as you will probably be aware from your fresher packs there is a bit of a theatre trip going on next week to see the production of To Kill A Mockingbird. I've not any money yet from anyone for this, though i know there is a lot of interest. Please leave your name below if you would definitely, no going back, no backing out, like to come along. (i.e. if i buy you a ticket and you back out and don't pay me i'll sent baliffs round ) I will reserve, and if neccessary pay for, your $8.50 ticket if you do this. Anonymous posters will not have anything reserved for them, so please post under your user names. To get money to me, either hand it in at a coffee hour to be stored in the cashbox on monday/tuesday or bring it in person. I'll be around on these coffee hours hopefully. I'm going to provisionally reserve 12 tickets which will hopefully be enough!
The event will be on Tuesday next week and should be rather good. We will meet by Parkinson steps around 6:30pm on the day.
Do you still have tickets? I'd like to go! I'm not in Leeds on Monday though, and i have lectures from 12pm until 4pm (boohoo) on Tuesday so i can't make the coffee hour (unless the doors open 10 minutes before official time) What should i do?
Hey guys, i'm really sorry but when i went to the West Yorkshire Playhouse today, after being assured there would be, and i quote, "loads" of tickets still available i was told there were none. Apparently some schools came in with a last minute purchase of everything over the next few days. The only days where tickets are now available is Friday and Saturday, so please call 0113 2137700 and reserve/buy your ticket now if you were really really wanting to see it. Sorry to be cancelling the trip, its a shame because i thought it was going to be really good. I can't personally re-allocate it to Fri/Sat either because i work these days, and the tickets are in my opinion a little bit expensive (the cheapest 13 squid)
Despite this debacle I'm gonna run other theatre trips in the future, notably to The Duchess of Malfi, The Wizard of Oz and Hound of the Baskervilles. All of which are coming this academic year. For these i am just gonna flat reserve 12 tickets in advance, and then just have first-come-first-served policy. I hope you all accept my sincere apologies for letting you down on this one, and i'll be in monday/tuesday coffee hours to discuss future trips/ideas, should anyone have suggestions/rants,
The acting, the production, the children, the non-emphasis on maturation in favour of emphasis on the court trial. Calpurnia, the fact that all the kids clapped when the black slave songs played, the tree, boo radley. Mrs Dubose. Apart from that, all was acceptable.
