As promised, and in response to your comments on the last Poptastic @ Mission Annexe, I have have had a word with Poptastic and we have decided to meet your commands ;)
Poptastic @ Mission Annexe on 11th November will feature a predominantly indie music policy :)
We (Mission and Poptastic) really do want to make this your night - as there is absolute sod all else on for gay indie boys and girls on a Saturday night!
Thanks again to all those who turned up for the last event - it was great to provide a cheaper end to your night when all of you must've spent quite a few quid that afternoon on the Otley Run!
If any of you do have any questions / comments, give me a nod on gary@clubmission.com and I'll get back to you asap :)
Thanks guys - all feedback welcome! (Just don't go asking me for all pop music now!! lol! ).
Gary :)

Jeni and myself had a good chin wag with missiongary and he was very pleasant. but all i can say is that girls aloud was played more that night than i can ever remember on a thursday. the kaiser chiefs and the arctic monkeys was a poor effort at inde music, and swsitching the yeah yeah yeahs off half way through was just insulting. bums willies and farts

Hiya mate!
Yeah, it was nice to meet you guys too :) You had caught me at a bad moment at the time, so hope I didnt come across as too stressy!
We really tested things on Saturday night, with Paul (DJ) really seeing what the crowd wanted - with some indie, some pop. He actually used the mic to see what was getting the biggest cheer. Its a tough one - as its just one room that we have to utilise - but it was nice to have a natter with you!
We're trying really hard to please everyone, but I am glad you understood that its not easy! If I had my way, then we'd have indie from the early 90's all night long : Inspiral Carpets, Charlatans, New Order, Mondays etc - but then I am showing my age and everyone else would probably hate it! :( :( haha!
Anonymous wrote: Well I missed the indie this time around. Maybe it happened whilst I was blinking.
Perhaps.
Once again though, we had over 250 in and the place was still very busy until 3am.
The biggest cheer of the night definitely came when Paul announced that we're taking Poptastic weekly!! Very chuffed about that - and it seems everyone else in there was too!
Downpoints of the night for me : not being able to have more than one drink as I was driving to Sheffield afterwards! AND : Paul telling everyone who had been sent home from this weeks XFactor (I had it recorded and was looking forward to watching it on Sunday!!). Grrrrrrr!!
Once again though, we had little indie and the place was still dead.

Downpoints of the night for me : not being able to listen to more than one indie tune that wasnt talked over and having to go back home afterwards due to the walk and!!!!! the fact i could have just stayed at home and had a better night ! AND : Paul Grrrrrrr!!
Wendy wrote: To be fair. I think it's better to have a poppy poptastic that is slowly improving, than to have no Poptastic at all.
Anyway, all the cool kids know where to get their gay friendly indie music from anyway, while we wait for Poptastic Leeds to pull their socks up.
Jeni. xx
P.s. Hello MissionGary!
Hiya Jen!
I knew what I'd be in for on here! haha! I made it my choice to act as a good 'go between' between the LGB / Poptastic clubbers etc - as its very hard for you guys and the people that matter to have any kind of liaison with club management.
So I put myself in the firing line haha!
But seriously, its great that you guys have somewhere / someone to feedback to!
Polo fiend wrote: I do think it's a tad silly that Poptastic is supposed to be an indie alternative to Homo, but they have the pop DJ playing.
But I still enjoy the night, and I'm sure it will beome a thing we all love
Its not suppposed to be an indie alternative to Homo - its intention is to provide somehwere for gay boys and girls to have an affordable Saturday night, listen to music that is not electro / house / techno and get sozzled for something thats not going to cause the earth. I was out on Saturday night for the first time in ages on a purely 'no work to do' kind of night (I am a hard house DJ - and what with working for Mission, its hard to find a Saturday night where I can purely enjoy myself), so myself and BF Liam headed to Chaphoryra (sp) (yum! really recommend it!), then to a few local places to us (Adelphi, Oracle etc). The drinks there were REALLY expensive - and a few glasses of decent merlot set us back £30 or more!
sorry skellypoo but i have to revise for the exams i'm going to fail in a few days.

Father Ted: WHAT?
Mrs Doyle: Oh, no, not cocaine. God, what am I on about. No, what d'you call them. Raisins.
I have tried to be diplomatic and polite over the affairs of poptastic. but i rest my case on the basis that it is utter ****e. the dj makes no effort to play "alternative" or inde music whatsoever, however he does play the killers, the artic monkeys or the kaiser chiefs...on a good day!!!! and he managed to make one 'alternative' cd....ROCK AND FOOKIN ROLL. **** mission. especially seen as we paid full price to get into poptastic which ended early....not up to scratch if you ask me.
I requested to have a YYYs song played, and at the Popspastic in Manc or even at places in bloody Warrington for ****s sake, it would have been happily played.
But he said, and I quote "I'm not a ****ing indie DJ love".
But... it claims to be Poptastic and the Poptastic brand surely requires this?!?!?!
