Finding uni hard? like i was
Permalink

Hi,

I'm a postgraduate from Leeds University, i studied in a straight geography degree and I, like most of you, struggled.

During my first two years i got through on the bear minimum, i'll be honest, not because i'm not intelligent enough..
achieving A B B in my A levels, but because i wasn't very organised, i had a laptop but all of my files were thrown
around on the desktop, and i had a terrible memory and so struggled to remember anything. I even missed the football
trials in first year, much to my demise as i used to consider myself a decent football player having once played for
the Bradford Youth squad.

At the end of my second year having narrowly passed i decided that i needed some assistance in my degree, and i couldn't
exactly use outside help as that's not really what degrees are for! Its meant to be yourself out in the open world.

I decided that the best option was to download some programmes which may help with my organisation by using my laptop.
The first programme i stumbled across was 'ShixxNote 6' a sticky note system, which could allow you to place sticky
labels on your desktop, however.. this programme cost approx $25.00 usd, and although not expensive, was too much for me.
I would rather have spent all of my money on booze, lets face it... everybody wants something free.

It was then my decision to get in touch with a friend of mine who worked, and studied in visual basic, i explained my
problem and it almost seemed too good to be true that he had already suffered from the same problem and was actually
designing such a programme for his dissertation. It was only a few weeks from completing the programme itself but
because he did not own a company at the time, the programme would be 'freeware'.

Eventually he gave me a copy of the CD, and i installed it. The programme is pretty cool, it's got a sticky system, and
a calendar. It also allows you to set personal reminders which can be triggered to remind you at any time interval through
the day. I soon found it easier to keep up with work, and eventually I graduated with a 2-2.

I decided to upload the file to a sharing site, but i'm not sure if it works because in terms of computing im a 'noob?'

If you'd bought a mac you'd already have such a program pre-installed.

Or, you could just buy some real post it notes like in the good old days.
